Don't waste your time or money, go elsewhere. Day one - Called in advance to plan an order for New Year's night to be informed not possible to order in advance, and that they would have plenty of food up until closing time at 1900 so no need either. After arriving at around 1730 found they had run out of fish so couldn't get food. Day two: Called in advance asking if they had fish (for lunch) explaining what happened on the first day, with no apology they informed us they did have plenty of stock and no need to order just turn up. After turning up around one hour later, again they had run out of fish. Day three: Finally they had fish, but only frozen as they had run out of fresh fish. We managed to order at 1700. Excited we were informed there was a 15-20 minute wait on food we happily sat outside. After this time we asked what was going on to be informed that it would be another 20-25 minutes wait, again went to ask and informed another 10 minutes - finally after an hour of waiting we got our food! Meanwhile they had run out of all food (around 1740) but let people keep queuing only to turn them away once they got to the till - you simply need a chalkboard by the door to let customers know! Meanwhile staff stood around sucking on lollies, rude and unhelpful with no interest in customer service whilst customers waited in many cases over an hour for food. The impolite staff informed us that they had run out of mussel fritter so substituted it for a "seafood special" when we asked if this meant or if we got a discount due to clearly a cheaper option they just shrugged their shoulders. No apology for the delay in getting our food either. Leaving with the food (as we were very hungry) we got home to find that some of the order was missing, the seafood special was inedible as was not fully cooked, the fish was over cooked, dry and brittle and the chips were soggy. We called the shop back to be told they were out of food and no more orders were being taken so I RE-explained and they said nothing could be done, I was just trying to get the food we had already ordered and the response was simply its your issue and they did not apologise. I asked to speak to the manager - I was informed "Mark" was too busy to resolve this and told to come back the following day. Sadly the only thing I can recommend about this place is to avoid it at all costs. I wish I could say otherwise.

Well we have had takeaways many times in Pauanui and always enjoyed the Fish n Chips but not this time. I have eaten Fish from the takeaways all over the North Island and have never had frozen fish like you buy in a bag at the supermarket before. We are in New Zealand surrounded by fresh fish! I could not believe what I recieved as Fish. I ordered 2 scoops of chips 6 dollars and it was enough to feed two people! The picture tells it all. We have vacationed here many times over the past 32 years and I'm very sad to say its by far the worst experience ever buying takeaways! You can plan on waiting an hour or more for the takeaways! They had a few disgruntled customers!

Sadly despite being very well staffed, wait times were long enough to send some of the senior citizens in to the arms of the grim reaper. The food quality was just acceptable. The scoop size for chips was on the small side and the spring rolls were bitter to the taste. The tenders were just shy of burnt (see pic). If they had had fish no doubt it would have been a disappointment. Other posters comment on the quality of the burgers, perhaps give those a shot. Use this place as a last resort during summer months. The owners need to train and motivate staff, find a better fish supplier and manage inventory more effectively for this business to shine.

Updated Massive thanks to Vicky for reaching out to fix the issue. We nipped back a few days later and she quickly remedied with a refund, and we enjoyed a delicious fresh fish & kumera chips. (Our choice, we could have had our original burgers 😊) Grateful for amazing customer service. Highly recommend stopping by when you're in the area.

Disappointed in experience. Our order was incorrect, but because we'd waited 30 minutes for it and didn't realize until after we'd arrived home, they had subsequently closed. Our burgers we're very plain hamburgers (should have been a Hawaiian and a Chicken). I specifically asked for no mayo, and both had mayo, so could only eat half burger (due to food intolerance). Pretty annoyed at $18 a pop. The fish was however lovely and agood...
