The Local — Restaurant in Waikato

We walked in and asked if we could get a table and was promptly asked if we had made a booking to which we said no and was told no seating was available other than outside...We agreed to sit outside and asked for the heater could be turned on as it was quite cold, no one came back to turn the heater sadly.... we were shortly presented with a "snack menu" and told a big group was comming so they were unable to accommodate the main menu..and that the snack menu would take 20-25mins....I found this unusual as based on my experience if a restaurant is busy your are usually told about a wait time, or if fully booked then no bookings available or if kitchen is closed then snack menu available so thought perhaps our ethnicity or appearance had a bearing on this treatment since we saw multiple others walk in and easily get a table inside, none of which were in a big group...so a little disappointed with the treatment/service especially having been to multiple restaurants from various countries in comparison...also in terms of food what we ordered tasted fairly bland and food seemed to be rushed. I give 2 stars as the food was below average but most importantly we felt mistreated..Based on our experience I would not be returning nor would I recommend...

Terrible experience.

I found a cockroach inside the burger—absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. To make things worse, one of the staff members had a terrible attitude throughout our visit. No matter what question we asked, she kept replying with the same dismissive line: “We’re very busy right now.”

When clearing the table, she was aggressive and loud, like she was angry at us personally. We even overheard her complaining to another table about how “difficult” we were, which was incredibly rude and unprofessional.

This place has serious hygiene and service issues. I will never be coming back, and I suggest others think twice before...

Our last 2 dinning experiences have been appalling. The customer service is deplorable. The women that served us both times had a very aggressive manner, & were not welcoming at all.

We had made reservations for dinner at 5pm, shortly after we sat down she abruptly said we need to clear off the table by 645pm as they had squeeze us in because they had another reservation. From that point on, throughout the service was & interaction was poor to say the least.

As a family we often come into town as we have a home there and have done so for years. I suggest they seriously look at improving they’re customer service &...
