I was recently on a holiday in NZ and discovered the BBQ hut while on a little walk. We were curious to step inside and check out what they had to offer. We were greeted by two lovely ladies who provided us with a nice conversation and we tried out the ribs. Amazing! Perfect flavour and the meat just fell off the bone! So over the next few weeks we went a few other times and tried a lot of the other menu items together. With each visit, we were always greeted with a smile and even though the store itself is quite small, it always felt very warm and welcoming thanks to the lovely staff who work there. Ribs - cooked to perfection and have a really nice sweet sauce. I highly recommend these. We ordered these a few times 11/10 Pie - was really good and the pastry was perfect 9/10 -these sell out so fast and are only available on a Friday so I recommend getting in early as you can to try one. 3 meat box with slaw - all 3 meats were cooked to perfection and had sauce/gravy on them. Very flavourful. They were accompanied by a slaw which had like a smoky flavour to it with some pickled onion slices and some pickles. I quite enjoyed a little bit of everything in this box. 8.5/10 Double smash burger - best burger I've probably ever had. I may have even moaned a little when we tried it 😆 highly recommend this!!!! I will definitely be having it again on my next visit to NZ 100/10 Pork belly bites - I'm very fussy when it comes to pork belly and prefer a sweet, sticky sauce, so these weren't quite my style, but I will say they were still cooked quite well. They just weren't the flavour that I prefer 8/10 Onion rings - perfect balance of thick onion slices and batter. You could tell they were cooked in fresh, clean oil and had a swirl of aoli on top. I really enjoyed these 10/10 Tiramisu slice - this was a lovely dessert and wasn't too overpowering with flavour like some tiramisu desserts can be 8/10 Custard slice - this was the best dessert we tried. Perfectly balanced layers with a lot of creamy custard. This dessert was bursting with flavour without being too sweet. We ordered this multiple times 10/10
This store also had a variety of other sides, desserts and both hot and cold drinks available to purchase. I also found it to be reasonably priced for the quality of the food you receive. And then the lovely customer service tops it off as a massive bonus. For anyone passing through the area, I highly recommend you give this little...
Read moreWe stopped for some dinner, we were hoping to get Spare Ribs to eat, but found out that there were no Ribs available as they were on a Special the following day.
On the recommendation of the staff on duty, we then decided to have the Smashed Brisket Burger for dinner, we ordered one single and one doubble patty burger 🍔, we watched as the patties were cooked on the outside BBQ and a short while later, we were presented with two big really yummy burgers.
These were of the best burgers that we have eaten. The quality, texture, and great flavours of the burgers were next level delishes.
The prices of the burgers were great, and I will definitely highly recommend anyone to stop at the Barbecue Hut for a meal, we will definitely stop there next time we come past that area for a great meal. Come out and support our local small businesses.
It's a pity that I could only give you a 5 Star rating, as the overall experience was more like a 10 Star experience - thank you to everyone working there and the personal touch to your clients.
(An additional 7 members of our group also stopped there for a dinner takeaway, and all ordered the smashed brisket burgers and total overall consensus was a...
Read moreStrange place to go (and travel to) for meat to be told on a Saturday that they are too busy (they weren’t) to do just meat in a box and that they can only do burgers and toasties. Pretty sure making a burger is harder than putting meat in a box, very un-accomodating for those that don’t touch carbs, pleasant enough but don’t advertise keto options if you can’t fulfil simple orders. Pleasant enough but behind in the times. Would still love to try one day but not wasting money on empty, industrially processed bread and other fillers when others locally will do just that and are just as busy, if...
