Fried Foods Bay, Taupo (Best Kebabs, Burgers, Fish& chips in Taupo) — Restaurant in North Island

Staying in Taupo, we decided on this place based on the reviews. It may have new owners since the last review. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations, this review is based on what we're used to in Australia, so far our experience of fish n chips in NZ is very different, so take that into context. The people in the shop were friendly enough, but what we ordered didn't compare price wise to their existing packs, so maybe stick to those for around $5 you could get fish/lunch packs. We ordered our own thing yet somehow that came to around $20 for two people ordering 2 fish some battered potatoes (potato cakes) and a handful of chips. Same price for a family pack.

Even though the potato cakes were only 2mm thick they were undercooked, my piece of fish was in pieces falling apart, the other fish was still defrosting in the middle & the chips weren't very nice.

Again we've only been to a few Fish n Chip places in NZ but this seems the norm. So it might be...

The worst hamburger I have ever had, it wasn't even put together properly and when I tried to put it together myself it created a big mess. The chips looked like they had been reheated. The man I spoke to on the phone when I asked for a hamburger with cheese and the salad this time because the last hamburger was just meat and cheese, he told me that a hamburger doesn't come with salad, but on the website it shows a burger with salad.
