We stopped here for a snack, but it was so crowded because there were two bus loads of people in there also. The line was very long and moved very slowly. Although I could tell the staff was doing their best, it took a while. Not a lot of food to choose from in the cabinet because of the big crowd. The chicken quiche we ordered was delicious. Not very many places to sit because of the big crowd so had to sit outside in the wind and cold.

This cafe stop was the only positive to my intercity bus experience Food was good sausage roll pastry bit hard n dry but not the end of the world and snack box with piece of fried chicken and chips was yum, salt sauces napkins there to use, clean tables and clean cafe with attentive staff. I don't use public toilets so cant comment on them..lots of parking area too

Older but comfortably appointed and clean rooms at a reasonable price. The cafe has an excellent breakfast menu. Staff are very friendly and helpful! This is a great place to stop overnight if you're traveling to the Northland and you want to be out of Auckland. I only wish I could have picked some of the little oranges!

This is the 3rd time we have stopped at this cafe with travelling on InterCity buses. Unfortunately nothing had changed with the staff members personality when buying food & making the coffees. No smiles & not very friendly all round. Also the lady who was serving was also making the hot drinks. Once served everyone, she then started making the drinks. We had a very tight turnaround with delays from traffic but still with the volume of people, you would think you would have more than one person trying to serve & make drinks. This ended with a couple of people paying for drinks but didn't receive them as the bus had to leave. If your business is to serve the public then a smile can go along way otherwise maybe a change in career. Also to accept buses business, you should be on the ball & work more efficiently. Hopefully a smile next time, its a small thing but means alot. Part from that good location for heading North & good ...

The food at Tulip CafĂ© is quite good, but unfortunately, the customer service really needs improvement. When we visited, we didn’t feel welcomed at all. The woman at the counter was not friendly and gave off a cold attitude. It felt like she might be bringing personal or cultural habits into a space where New Zealand's friendly and welcoming spirit is expected.

This is New Zealand — a country known for its warm, smiling people. Customers here appreciate a kind greeting and a little friendliness. We're not here to cause trouble or take anything; we're simply here to enjoy good food and good service.

Please, treat your customers with a smile and respect. Don’t make them feel uncomfortable by staring or acting distant. We notice more than you think, and the experience matters just as much as the food.

With a bit more effort in customer service, this place could be...

This cafe needs a good clean!! The toilets including walls and skirting boards were disgusting. The food in cabinet looked okay which is why we stopped but on purchasing a sandwich found it to be thick stale bread with translucent lettuce and more raw onion than meat!! Tea was okay even though it came through a cracked spout on the teapot which is surely a cleanliness issue! Do not understand why the intercity buses stop here. Poor passengers. It also seems the owner takes no steps to improve any negative feedback but is only rude and defensive back. Which is a bit like the woman who...
