Waikanae Beach Takeaways — Restaurant in North Island

Wow, what a hidden gem! We usually go to Golden Nest takeaway for our fish and chips and have done so for years. Occasionally they aren't open and we're forced to try other local takeaway stores. (Usually disappointed - Golden Nest is hard to beat!) We've lived here for 13 years or so and i have to admit, i had no idea that Waikanae Beach Takeaways even existed! I just happened to come across them on Google and decided to give them a try. Super glad we did! They are right up there with regard to the quality and taste of the fish and chips. The only little gripe i would have is that their scoop of chips was a little on the smaller side, but other than that, we were very pleased. Definitely going back...

The Waikanae Beach Takeaways is clearly a local favourite. Although there were some restrictions due to Covid Level 2 there was a steady stream of phone orders being collected while we waited in the shop. I have been here before . It's a busy takeaway /fish and chip shop . But ,while the service is great and very polite , I find the fish is a bit dry , chips are so-so , and not as good as it used to be . Portions are just ok .
