I just went to shiraz in kamo an hour ago and it was the best food related experience I've ever had. When I went last time I wanted something hotter because I felt like the hot butter chicken wasn't hot enough so I asked for Indian hot butter chicken. The server looked at me shocked and told me that even he doesn't have it that hot and explained to me the heat level of it and I reassured him that I wanted the butter chicken Indian hot. he brought it out and it was the most amazing curry I'd ever had even though the butter chicken is amazing at normal heat levels, the spiciness enhanced the flavor to new heights. After I ate my curry he brought out the Chilli's they used and he said I could have a bite. Now these Chilli's are like the size of my finger which seems bite sized so I ate a hole green Chilli when I tell you I had unbearable pain I'm my mouth for 10 minutes I mean it. They server gasped as I ate it then my hole family started laughing but it was still an amazing experience(I also got a free ice cream with these tasty doughy balls to help with the pain).
This time I wanted something hotter so when they asked me what I wanted I said an Indian hot butter chicken but hotter. The server knew me at this point from last time so he knew the drill. he brought it out and when I tried it I could really feel the burn but it was somehow even better than last time truly the best curry I've ever had. When I asked him how much Chilli's were in it he said 9. I was so shocked that I could handle 9 Chilli's and while I was taking this in the server was being so nice saying that he couldn't even handle 9 saying he appreciated me for letting him and the chef make spicy and more authentic curry's.
Every single aspect of shiraz kamo is perfect the food is so delicious, the music playing in the background as you eat gives a really good atmosphere, the staff and service is so amazing. So I would recommend shiraz kamo with all my being. Thank you to the chef and owner of...
Read moreVisiting family in Whangarei we got recommended this place. First off communication was not the best as we placed an order online for 5.45pm pick up and they had just received the order when we got there at 5.47pm. They made the food for us with 25/30 minutes and service by the 2 young boys at the till was alright. Could have been a more polished service, as both had hair in their face and wearing streetwear with bucket hats, and they didn't really have the communication skills to tell us about the inconvenience so they had to bring in a 3rd person. The curries were GREAT, tasty and nice spices with yummy chicken but rice serve was quite small as it came in only one box to share, slightly bigger than the container the curries were in. We had a garlic naan and a plain and both naans were plain/no garlic, flavorless and probably not made fresh. Vegetable samosa was okay, I think this was bought too as it didn't look or taste fresh made. Shame as the curry was good but everything else was just...
Read moreI’m from the UK. We love our Indian food. Curry is the top takeaway dish.
So I was looking forward to what Shiraz had to offer. What a disappointment. If you are looking for authentic Indian food you won’t find it here.
We ordered:- Onion baji – this was the best dish in the order. They were excellent. Butter chicken – the meat was very over cooked and tough (maybe reheated?) and the sauce was made from a cream of cream tomato soup. Shameful. The sauce you get inside butter chicken pies in the supermarket is far superior than this slop. Lamb Korma – again the meat was very tough. The sauce adequate. Rice – ok Naan bread – not the light and fluffy bread you find in the UK – these were more like chapattis.
I think if you can find superior products in a jar on the shelf of a supermarket then there has to be something very wrong in the kitchen. Will we try Shiraz again – probably. Maybe it wasn’t their normal Chef. One...
