Since the new owners/managers have taken over the columbus in Mitre 10 Takanini, Auckland service has been disgusting. Waiting extremely long 20+ minutes for drinks and longer for food. When orders arrive there is always mistakes with the orders. Today's visit was the straw that broke the camels back, my parents placed their order before myself, as I was ordering the "manager" paid more attention to a personal conversation with a work colleague than the customer in front of her. I saw her cross items off my parents docket. Which I told my parents about. After waiting 30 minutes my order (which was placed after my parents) and some of my parents order arrived. We were still waiting on drinks and slices that were ordered. When we went and asked where the rest of the order was we were told that they were really busy (4 tables that had there order already and 2 tables waiting for their order) after waiting another 20 minutes for the missing drinks my mum asked for a refund and to see our original docket, to which she was told by the manager that she doesn't have time to talk to my mum and show her the docket (I'm thinking they knew they were in the wrong and didn't want to admit fault) the manager looked back at our docket as they were making the drinks and said she didnt have time to talk to my mum or show her the docket. We received our refund but the manager was very reluctant to give the refund. This has been happening regularly with us since the new management has taken over this columbus...
Read moreI always bring my overseas [California/Melbourne/Sydney] whanau here for meal and they loved it. When they returned I privately posted them some meals photos. Immediately they recalled "yaye Columbus delicious' This Takanini home cafe is a space and a place where spirit, mana, people meet and filled the air with many 'stories' - while the sound, the aroma and the aromatic flavour of the freshly brewed coffee is blended. Our whanau (overseas/local) wish to thank and acknowledge Madhur for being approachable, her warm smile and respectful manners reflects our Pasifika way of serving food for/with people. So as Pooja - the young woman with a costly smile and warm personality that draws attentions to the service and the brand. Regardless of them being busy, they smiled, stopped, looked and listened - and responded accordingly. I admired the kitchen interior extension that enables the microwave and hot sandwich makers boost delicious smells and flavours to the atmosphere. Indeed, it is greatly appreciated to see the manager/owner on the floor, cleaning and clearing/working alongside the staff - no wonder the 'smiling faces' behind the hungry customers when...
Read moreThe Columbus Café at Mitre10 Takanini is always worth the trip! After our community work at Kean Ron Road's "Community Garden Food for Thought," we treat ourselves to their delicious keto strawberry cheesecake—truly divine! The coffee is equally delightful, with a mocha topped with cream being a naughty treat, and the chocolate and berry milkshakes loved by the kids. For the past 12 years, we've never been disappointed. The staff, both familiar and new faces, are eager to learn and please. Columbus Café gives young people a chance to develop their skills in a supportive environment, which is commendable. If you enjoy a nutritious meal, this is the place for you. While prices have risen slightly, the quality justifies it. I do wish for more family-friendly combo meals for kids, but the positive experiences outweigh any negatives. Enjoy your gatherings, with great parking and the opportunity to shop for tools as you go. Everyone is welcome, including kids and parents' groups. Join us and spread the green...
