Shout out to Lime Tree Cafe. We bowled in off the streets, 2 children 5 adults right on busy lunch time and we're informed by staff in the most apologetic manner that "the kitchen had to be closed due to kitchen staff calling in sick that day. There was however the food from the counter cabinet that we could purchase if we wanted to though", so, we did that. 🙂 Busy as they were, they provided fast and friendly service and in spite of the kitchen being closed the food available was scrumptious. I would suggest the mud cake for the sweet tooth and the smoked chicken panini for the savory. The cafe vibe was very welcoming with toys in a little area for the kiddies to play with. My shout out here is for the two staff that were on that day who took lemons and made great lemonade out of the situation that they had been dealt. They looked after their customers regardless of the barrage of challenges they were faced with ... and pulled it off with flying colors. I would recommend Lime Tree Cafe to anybody looking for a great place to eat in...
Read moreWe travelled North to Wellsford for the worst of reasons - a funeral for a great bloke who died too young. We needed a comfort stop, a light lunch and a coffee before carrying on to the funeral at the community centre. Wellsford is a small rural town, and we expected nothing out of the ordinary. It's clean, airy and pleasant throughout. The young woman at the counter served us with genuine warmth and courtesy - what a delight! My wife chose a salmon bagel with capers, I selected a Guinness steak and kidney pie. I ordered a long black for my wife, and a standard short black espresso for myself.
The food was served warm, with succulent, fresh salads. It was outstanding, and the coffee, a blend produced by a local coffee roaster, was magnificent. The pleasant young woman who served us is also a competent barista.
You find excellence sometimes in unexpected places. We'll go there again when we travel north. Five stars!
P.S. the coffee brand is "Rush". I bought a pack of the espresso beans to...

They COULD get 5 stars with some small changes - their bread and muffins are cheaply supermarket bought, despite the excellent family owned bakery right next door. It feels a little tearoom-ish - little packs of anchor butter should not be used anywhere in these environmentally aware times - but it's a cafe that's affordable, tasty,...
