Puhoi Cottage Tea Rooms is really one of a kind. Situated right alongside the Puhoi River, you get to enjoy nature and observe beautiful views while enjoying a delicious warm cup of tea with some light food.
They have a wonderful selection of high-quality flavoursome teas to accompany their scrumptious signature scones – presented in beautiful antique chinaware. Whilst they have other food as well such as sandwiches and soup, the Devonshire Cream Teas are a must have!
The tea house was built in the early 1900's and has a wonderful character and warmth to it. It is beautifully decorated and contains many hand-made ornaments and fixtures giving you a cosy homely feeling. The garden is very spacious, dog friendly, and kid-friendly with a 14ft trampoline and many chickens roaming about to keep the kids entertained. The service above all is first class. The owners take pride in what they do, and make you feel warm, welcome, and relaxed.
We had an amazing time visiting today and highly recommend the place. We'll be back for sure, thank you...
Read moreAlong the Puhoi River, the Puhoi Cottage Tearoom has been part of the fabric of Puhoi for over a 100 years 😮 It is one of the oldest tea rooms in New Zealand, and also perhaps the oldest tea room in the country serving high tea in the Devonshire Tradition ❤️
With over 25 tea choices, I naturally had to try their Devonshire Cream Tea 😋 (tea with scones, handmade jam, and clotted cream). I chose a bold and flavourful Nepali masala chai 🫖
You can also gorge on delicious cakes, 🍰 treats and savouries like pies, rolls 🥪 quiche 🍲 and salads. You also have a choice of other beverages (apart from tea) like hot chocolate and a list of different coffees ☕️
It can be reached either by road 🚓 🚗 or by canoeing 🛶 down the Puhoi river. I reached just as they were opening up, so the scones had just come fresh out of the oven 😍
Although a lovely outing, with great food and service, in calm and relaxing 😌 surroundings, it does seem a bit dated and in need...
Read moreFood was okay but service was bad, one of the worst place I’ve been to NZ. If you read the lowest star comments, they’re all saying the same thing, rude staff (lady).
I was with my mate riding motorbikes. We both ride a 250 cc and 400cc which are small bikes. Lady came up to us when serving our food saying that we revved our bike and woke a baby up inside. I was honestly clueless as we didn’t do that and to those who ride bikes, you know how a stock 250cc sounds. Not sure if they just hate motorcyclists or being racists.
I also asked to be seated outside and if it’s okay if I wanna open the umbrella, she said of course you can. Or you can sit at the already opened one (refer pics below). These items were near the table and there were dirty socks on the bench that my mate had to move it.
Either way, never coming back. Just go to other...
