Got a wrong dish after a long 35 minutes wait. Had to stand while waiting. By that time the kitchen was out of pitas. The place was crowded and noisy. The tables were not being cleared at all, nor wiped down. One had to get rid of someone else's trash (serving boxes, napkins ect). The pieces of salad that dropped down from the previous diners' mouths and splotches of sauce or meat drippings were a disgusting site. Decided to wait for a bit outside but it got cold and dark. The traffic noise does not make eating at a single table outside a nice option. While eating inside, one has to be prepared to have a queue of customers moving slowly right by your table. The ones who have ordered their meals but were still waiting for their orders and people coming in to pick up telephone orders all crowd inside and encroach on the tables. Not a way to enjoy a meal. Takeaway would have been a better option but the food order mistake would not have been discovered till we got home. Too many fries and just a scant amount of zucchini, just 2-3 pieces. It was deep fried in very thick batter. My first and last visit. Place needs more staff on busy days or at peak times, including cooks and a diner cleaner. No toilets available for customers. Table was wobbly, needed to be propped with something. No apology from the cashier or the cook for serving wrong dish and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy new favourite restaurant. Came here for dinner and got a chicken wrap with chips on the side and some baklava for afterwards. The chips were delicious, perfectly seasoned and came with a small container of tomato sauce. The chicken kebab wrap was delicious and the meat was beautifully tender, nicely flavoured, and paired perfectly with the other fillings and their special mayo. The portion size is very generous and works out great for a meal that is guaranteed to leave you feeling satisfied afterwards. The addition of the baklava perfectly rounded out the meal with a nice sweet finish, and they were the perfect combination of sweet and savoury without overdoing the sweetness at all. There is also a nice warm inviting atmosphere created by the friendly staff, who really turn this business from a great restaurant into an amazing one. Overall, this is a great place to go for a meal and is my new favourite restaurant in Dunedin for an amazingly delicious and affordably priced meal. I would highly recommend that everyone tries here, and I am eagerly looking forward to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHuzur, peace in Persian. Peace engulfs me when I get a piece of cheesy meat in my mouth. The overwhelming load of Iskander and deep-friend chips cooked by the loving hands of the owners of the establishment, or his equally competent workers topped off by special sauces to your liking. What more could you request to take the edge off a Tuesday? Tasty Tuesdays, our Huz.
A patron of Turkish cuisine, the owner does not let that define his restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you will realise you are entering a truly cosmopolitan experience. Maps as cladding, books on coffee tables, your mind will truly be opened to the wonders of this world outside our sleepy town. Huzur solely sits here as a taster to this world we are yet to experience. Huzur giveās us hope, in this hope we find...
