Garden Motel Dunedin — Hotel in South Island

This small motel was perfect for our needs. The staff were so kind and helpful. We couldn't arrive in reception hours but they were super okay with sorting it. The room was neat and had everything we needed. Heater was wonderful and we could adjust temperature easily. It was the cleanest basic motel we have stayed in when we have visited Dunedin. WiFi was a bit on and off in our room. Location was excellent. An easy flat walk into main area of town if you like to walk or a quick drive. Dairy's close. The unit was clean, with a full kitchen and electric blankets. For us the unit was a little cold, we only had the wall heater and a separate fan heater. This is commonplace for Kiwi motels, but it really needs addressing. Otherwise everything was up to scratch and the location is central to everything, handily pizza and other fast foods are nearby. Something the motel cannot do anything about but we noticed it soon enough; State Highway 1 runs through the city, heavy trucks run down the hill into the city and their exhaust brakes can keep you awake. Just stayed the night on our way down south, had the two bedroom unit and it was perfect for the five of us. Good parking and WiFi was excellent. Really close to cbd and restaurants. The rooms are a little tired but beds comfortable and everything is clean so for the price it is great. Rooms were warm as it was a warm day so if there was any recommendation it would be air con but not a main reason not to stay again. ...
