Disappointing unfortunately. The place / ambience is nice. V were the only ones. Party of 10. So that was a plus. But service was a little slow as I think it’s a family run business. But that’s ok.
Advertised as Nepali but most dishes r from south India!! So I guess they r just using the name but food is really South..
The food price is as New Zealand all over 16- 20$ on avg for a dish. The taste is just ok. Felt more like food being made from sauces / paste, rather than fresh ingredients.
V had prawn malabari (paste sauce) coconut was quite over powering and could not feel tamarind or spices, even though v said moderately hot. 21$
Lamb sekuwa ws spicy, slightly over done but quantity was was very small for 16$.
Dal makhni should b avoided. Taste ws not great at all. It ws all ghee. 18$
Chicken biryani is probably a dish only North Indians known how to cook n most Indians in nz r from south. 19.5$
Plain naan for some reason has oil rubbed over it. The waiter didn’t have an idea of plain naan. And so was the the roti... small servings and partially burnt 3$/each
Momos were ok. But I did wonder if they were hand made or just out of the packet!! 14$
Bhuteko chicken is fried rice with chicken and not worth it either. 14.5$
Lastly advertised halal but I wonder... the guy didn’t know brands of halal.
This might seem like a very harsh review but I feel if one is charging top price for food then they should also know what they r serving. One of the major problems in nz due to get it done attitude.. (or in migrant terms chalta hai..)
From a Nz perspective food is good taste as most nzers don’t have a feel for subcontinent taste. So u may...
Read moreWe were really excited to go here again because we've been in the past and loved it. So disappointed. Momos were good but came with sweet chilli sauce instead of the authentic sauce advertised on the menu. The lamb curry was nice but had no spice at all even though we ordered it medium. It was very small for $26. The rice was clearly old - it was dry bordering on crunchy. We both have sore, churning tummies now and was probably caused by the rice. Worst of all we ordered the soup. They brought us chow mein instead and then took it away when we said it wasn't what we ordered. Came back a few minutes later with what looked like the chow mein but tipped into a bowl and a bit of water added. It tasted like canned spaghetti with frozen vegies mixed in - cost was $20. It was absolutely disgusting. We challenged them that it was the reused chow mein and they claimed it was made fresh. We refused to pay for it. Service was hostile and we heard a lot of shouting and arguing...
Read moreI been there with my friend and my partner. First of all they took long to bring food on table. After we got food curries were tasty but we ordered chapatis and they were so crunchy that they not suppose to be. At last we requested them to take away the food that we couldn't eat. They put containers on our table for us to food in them on our own. I never see like this in any other restaurant because others always ask their customers whom they want it to do. When we gave them our feedback we talked nicely about that they should ask customers how they want. Then the owner said 'Its not India,Nepal, Bangladesh or Pakistan. You could guys pack your food on yourself that we think was quite rude . In NZ no matter where we go they always ask customer how the customer wants things to be done. So we never going back to that place again because of...
