Oasis on Orwell Bed and Breakfast — Hotel in South Island

We stayed with Liz and Dave for 2 nights in a lovely queen size en-suite room just a bit north of the historical centre of Oamaru. They are a wonderful couple who treated us like family and we spent quite some time getting to know each other, learning about the natural and factual history of the area from them and having lively discussions on many subjects. You just don’t get that at a Marriott! Very well appointed room and a large stocked bathroom, little things like slippers and robes, evening turn-downs, our own mini fridge in the room (essential for the NZ Sauv Blanc), etc, etc. Breakfasts were excellent ranging from the huge full English Breakfast (too big for us) to smoked salmon and poached eggs or home made salmon cakes along with all the add-ones you could want - fruit, yogurt, cereals, home made muesli, toast, jam etc!||We highly recommend staying with Liz and Dave - you will be warmly welcomed, treated amazingly while there and given a hug when you leave! Oasis on Orwell is a beautiful villa showcasing wonderful art-deco era design features. The presentation and comfort of the accommodation is more than enough to warrant a 5-Star rating but that's totally eclipsed by the exceptionally warm hospitality provided by Liz & Dave, which takes the B&B experience to a totally different level. We only had a 1-night stay, but we felt like we'd met new best friends by the time we departed! ||||To top it all off, breakfast was top-notch in terms of options, quality and presentation. Simply perfect!||||I wish there was a 6th star rating reserved for such exceptional experiences and needless to say, this will definitely be our stopover of choice for future road trips through this part...
