We came here for lunch yesterday around 11:30 from a long drive, and it ended up being one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. From the start, communication with the staff was a mess. It wasn’t just me — all of us at the table had to repeat our orders several times because they simply weren’t getting it. I personally ordered chicken curry on rice. I pointed to it on the menu, said it clearly multiple times, and even corrected the staff when they repeated back “foo yang” to me. He gave me a thumbs up like he understood — but when the food came, it was still foo yang. To make it worse, the foo yang was overly salty and not worth what they charge. And despite advertising rice dishes, they weren’t even serving rice during lunch. We were left eating viands on their own, which felt incomplete and disappointing. The atmosphere didn’t help either — staff were audibly yelling at each other in the background, making it uncomfortable to even sit there. We walked out still hungry and ended up having to eat lunch again later in the afternoon. For the price and overall experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone — save your time and money.

This was a bad experience, food is expensive, cutlery isn't provided because apparently "we eat fish & chips like that" according the the cashier, and no sauce was provided, no tartare sauce for fish & chips, and ketchup or chili are add ons so you have to pay extra... The fish have been fried ages ago just a quick reheat, felt like eating a piece of card board đŸ˜”

Do NOT order the dumpling soup here. The dumpling skin is not cooked through. When returned to the kitchen, the chef's explanation was that the dumplings had been frozen. Makes you wonder how long they have frozen it for, as I never had such problem with any of the frozen dumplings I bought and cook myself. Also, this shop charges $2 extra for dinner in!

I don't normally go for Chinese food, I prefer Thai, Indian, Malaysian etc, however there is none of this in Fairlie. I generally find Chinese dishes being mild and or sweet. I had a chat with the staff lady and she firstly directed me to mild dishes that most locals like. However after getting to know what I was after I settled on a bami goreng. This had a nice spice kick to it, although not too spicy, more just nice flavours. There was plenty of chicken, beef, pork with vegetables including cabbage and carrot. Not an over supply of noodles which is often the case with noodle houses. A very generous serve as well which was appreciated after a hike at Mount Cook. More a place for takeaway than eat in. I feel lucky that I chose the right...

We came by since it was one of the few places that were open when we were there. The menu is a mix of Chinese food and fish and chips takeaways. They did have tables but dine-in was closed so we grabbed some takeaways to take back to the motel. Ordered through the screen and got a ticket for the order. It took about 10 minutes to get the food which was quite fast. We grabbed a bami goreng and cashew nut chicken. The noodles had a nice heat to it, which was surprising. The cashew nut chicken was nice with a decent amount of nuts. It was standard Chinese...
