My wife and I have travelled the length and breadth of NZ several times, and, never have we entered a cafe/bakery that ticks every box. Most cafe/bakeries make the mistake of stuffing their wares with way too much cream, or use the cheap option of mock cream. Paris Cafe does neither. A great range of products made it hard to choose. I settled for a mince & cheese pie (my favourite blend) and a choc eclair of ginormous length. Both were perfect. The Bakery/Cafe is owned by a Kiwi girl who went to France, captured a French chef/baker/pastry cook, married him, and brought him home to Amberley and set up shop. There is no doubt their love has transferred to their products. The coffee was spot on. I like my long blacks with extra shots. My wife and I enjoyed the ambience of this Cafe so much, we done something we normally never do, and that is stay for another coffee and a read of the Chch Press. The toilets were adequate and very clean. If I could find something to moan about, it would be those ignoramuses, who walk in & out leaving the front door open, letting a cold draft whistle around ones legs while seated at the table/s. This could be overcome by installing a automatic door closer above the door at little cost. The staff were always busy. As soon as seated customers left, someone was out clearing & wiping table/s. A lengthy review, but the Amberley Paris Cafe is worth every...
Read moreMy strict assessment for Paris Bakery Cafe? An absolute 5 stars. This cafe gets 5 stars. Where do I start? Their foods are unique while meeting the optimal variety. My favourite is the Chicken cranberry Camembert Pie, which was recommended to me by the counter lady. On top of that, these guys are really friendly and good conversationalist with customers. You can tell they care.
Their pastries, dont get me started. Mind blowing. You have unique french pastries that you could never find in other café. Since one of the bakers is French, their 'Pain au chocolat' or Chocolate croissant is really good (along with their strawberry...
Read more'Let's stop at Paris on our way into Christchurch, they've got yummy pastries.' I hesitated. You know what its like when you're nearly home. 'Come on, live a little, lets go to Paris'. And it was worth it. Tiny flavorsome pastries! Delicate patisserie's! Breads! My mouth waters instantly at the thought. Definitely worth the stop. Paris is worthy of being a destination. Something to eat there, and something to take away for later. Did I mention the coffee? Oh the coffee, full of flavour, and smooth. Lovely big courtyard outside, the walls are painted with chalkboard, ideal for kids to be...
