The Park Cafe Marahau — Restaurant in Tasman

The staff was friendly but our service was incredibly slow. Got here around 6:30 on a Monday and ordered within 15 minutes. The waiter was not a native English speaker and was new so he could not help suggest anything. We waited over 45 minutes (the place wasn't busy) to get the wrong order brought over.

The burger they brought was correct and tasted good. The other order was chicken soup. I don't know how hard it is to put your soup into a bowl and serve it but we were promised a 5 minute turnaround after they found out they messed up, and it took another 20. We saw 9 dishes get served between the "5 minute" promise and the time the dish actually arrived. We were offered a free dessert to make up for it while waiting for the soup which we reluctantly said yes to. During this time they also offered to give us the soup for free because they took so long and messed up. That's fine and that's how it should be. They messed up and didn't fix it in a timely fashion. They also kept offering us drinks in the mean time. Whether or not they meant free, or just something to try to distract us, we won't know, but they still charged us for the soda we got.

They didn't give us said dessert, however. Again no big deal. The final straw was when the soup finally arrived and it was literally boiled water with a ton of vegetables and what looked like two shreds of yellow canned chicken. It was bland and not what I expected. However the waiter didn't know what I had asked so he couldn't suggest or describe to me that "chicken soup" really meant "a ton of broccoli in water we just boiled."

So yeah. We waited an hour for some free boiled broccoli soup that wasn't even salted.

3/10 for effort, 8/10 for staff friendliness, 3/10 for waiter helpfulness, 1/10 for soup quality, 0/10 for organization. At least tell your customers that they're not going to get served their food in a timely manner after you after your screw up, rather than let them see all the entrées you push out of the kitchen over the next...

A busy, creative, wholesome, lively, relaxed hub quite literally at 'the end of the road'. A fabulous spot to meet a variety of international guests, backpackers, musicians, artists as not only is it at the portal to New Zealand's Able Tasman National Park which hosts a couple of million trampers, campers, hikers and day trip fun seekers but it is also nestled in the heart of the multinational Marahau Valley community and also serves as a local gathering or meeting place for locals from miles around.

In fact, there is so much fun to be had at The Park Cafe it has attracted the attention of many well known and loved local and international bands and as a popular music venue is now considered to be on New Zealand's 'Live Music Circuit' and has hosted artists such as Fat Freddy's Drop, Dave Murphy, Carol Bean and its even been rumoured that our international brother Taj Mahal has passed though.

Sun, Sea, magical bush and birdsong, blue bays with golden sand, fresh wind on your face as your nostrils pick up the scent of stone baked pizzas to die for being pulled fresh out of the oven and looked after by a revolving staff of international origins who bring the feeling of ease, comfort and good service to you with a charming smile and enthusiasm.

As you wait for your wholesome and delightfully decorated food to arrive you can gaze out the windows over the lovely and thriving estuary or take a moment to wander the walls and view some spectacular paintings, pottery, wood carvings or the like for sale by local artists.

There's Old Macdonald's Farm and petting zoo up the road next to a large, long established camping ground circumferenced by the Marahau River where the many swimming holes are clear of sludge and water good enough to drink straight as it comes down the valley after passing through the Takaka Hill marble/quartz caves. Be wary to keep an eye out for a little eal or two who are also long time local residents and mean no harm.

By far the best restaurant in the area! Whether you’re either walking off or on from the Abel Tasman National Park visiting or staying at the local camp you have to come to this establishment!!

Great beer, pizza and food. The overall atmosphere it definitely is a hidden secret treasure. Lots of food options for a variety of preferences and tastes.

This will definitely leave an impression with your memories!!

Mit Abstand das beste Restaurant in der Gegend! Egal, ob Sie gerade den Abel Tasman Nationalpark erkunden oder im nahegelegenen Campingplatz übernachten – dieses Lokal müssen Sie einfach besuchen!! Tolles Bier, Pizza und Essen. Die gesamte Atmosphäre – es ist definitiv ein verstecktes Juwel. Es gibt zahlreiche Speiseoptionen für unterschiedliche Vorlieben und Geschmäcker.

Excellente bière, pizza et cuisine. L’ambiance générale est un véritable trésor caché. Un large choix de plats pour satisfaire toutes les préférences et tous les goûts.
