Remarkable Cafe — Restaurant in Te Hiku Community

Outstanding food from a serious seafood menu. So good we came back for a second night, having found the local Thai restaurant a bit of a disappointment. The ceviche (“surf and earth”) starter is delicious. The scallops with lentil and miso sauce is superb. The deep fried prawns with tacos are good. The tuna with mango and thin sliced potatoes was delicious, as was the seafood risotto. Only wish we’d been able to come back a third night. From a European’s perspective, the desserts were the weak link. Could have done with tarte au citron or Italian gelato on the menu for dessert. But generally NZ seems a disappointment on dessert front. If you like quality food in a proper dining establishment, then Remarkable seafood restaurant is not to be missed! Sometimes I look at the reviews and I’m like a 4.2. Well let’s put it into perspective wouldn’t Nobu in New York City be a 5.0 so I suppose a 4.2 isn’t so bad.

Actually, for a restaurant, in a destination, not surrounded by too many people the food was delicious. I don’t know what it was called, but it was seafood in paper with potatoes and seasonings. It was absolutely delicious.

I think a 4.2 is harsh, considering there is some food truck in a neighboring town that has a 4.7 and the food is absolutely atrocious.

Called in for breakfast a few mornings on the trot whilst staying in the area. There was always a warm welcome and a smile as soon as you entered and your order was dealt with efficiently. There are lots of options on display in the chilled cabinet but the breakfast menu was my option every day. I had eggs Benedict on one morning which arrived quickly and was delicious and filling. The following morning i went for their Meusli which was filled with fresh fruit, yoghurt and milk if you wanted. It was so good i ordered the next day too!
