2025: Another dine-in visit to Beaufort & Co in Oteha, and nearly a year later, the experience is still top class. Special mention to Olga—your warm manner and attention to customer care were truly appreciated. When we realised we’d missed out on one of the special doughnuts of the day (caramel gingerbread), Olga kindly arranged with the chef to create some alternative options for our takeaway order, going well above and beyond expectations. Huge thanks to the chef as well for making it happen. Our dine-in meals were served quickly, beautifully presented, and well-balanced in flavour. Portion sizes were just right, and our hot drinks were absolutely delicious. The takeaway packaging is next-level—loved the clear window so you can peek at what's inside. My friend said the scone was one of the yummiest she'd ever had. The doughnuts were rich and satisfying, with a thick cream that held its shape well. My daughter loved her bacon hash croissant and smoked salmon bagel. The pistachio croissant had a dense texture and probably would’ve been even better warmed up at home —something to keep in mind for next time. The “everything” slice was a bit much for our palates, but if you’re into fruit and chocolate combos, it’ll likely hit the spot. Highly recommend Beaufort & Co for both dine-in and takeaway if you're after a treat for the tastebuds. 2024: We just had breakfast at Beaufort & Co, and it was a top-tier experience from start to finish. Tiramisu Dessert Shake – 5/5: Everything we'd hoped for—creamy and subtle, with excellent presentation. The lady finger added a delightful crunchy texture. Passionfruit Spritzer – 5/5: Fresh, tangy, and bursting with real passionfruit flavour. Absolutely delicious. Mochaccino – 5/5: Perfect in flavour, temperature, and presentation. Smoked Salmon Beaufort Benne – 5/5: Faultless. Each ingredient was perfectly cooked and presented. The best Eggs Benedict we've had so far, with a perfect serving size. S'mores Waffles – 5/5: The quality and care put into this dish were evident. The waffles were crispy on the outside, light but moist on the inside. The berry compote was delicious, and the chocolate mascarpone was decadent with a smooth texture. The homemade marshmallow squares with a subtle berry jelly layer at the bottom were the cherry on top—a true chef's kiss. The service was A++, with lovely staff who made us feel welcome. The seating was comfortable, the dĂ©cor clean and bright, and the music—a mix of classic hits—was the perfect way to start the day. 100% recommend this place! 2023: Amazing quality and tasty food. Excellent set up and presentation. Gets quite busy because of this but booking a table ahead of time will see you seated comfortably without any issues. They have a text line you can pre-order from (check FB) and an excellent takeaway service too.

Across the sea, a land of green, Where jagged peaks, a silent scene, Rise from the waves, a sleeping giant, In rugged beauty, wild and pliant. From Cape Reinga's northern reach, Where two great oceans meet and preach, Of ancient tides and forces grand, Upon the sacred, shifting sand. The kauri stands, a sentry old, A story whispered, bravely told, Of centuries passed and spirits deep, While forests rustle in their sleep. Then down the isle, to golden bays, Where sunlit waters gently haze, And kiwis call in twilight's hush, A silver fern's soft, verdant blush. The steam escapes from Rotorua's ground, A rhythmic, bubbling, primal sound, With Māori carvings, red and bold, A culture's heart, a story told. Through rolling hills, of emerald hue, Where sheep graze under skies so blue, The city lights of Auckland gleam, A vibrant, modern, hopeful dream. Below, the capital, Wellington bright, Clings to the hills in fading light, A wind-swept town, with art and song, Where diverse voices gather strong. The ferry glides on Cook Strait's way, To where the Southern Alps hold sway. A canvas painted, white and stark, With glaciers leaving their deep mark. The turquoise lakes, a brilliant sight, Reflect the sun in dazzling light, The Franz Josef, and Fox, so slow, Carve paths of ancient, frozen snow. The fiords of Milford, dark and deep, Where waterfalls in torrents leap, From sheer-cut cliffs, a misty spray, That greets the dawn of every day. And Queenstown calls, with thrill and cheer, Where brave souls conquer every fear, From bungy jumps to ski-slope flights, A land of breathtaking, bold delights. The plains of Canterbury stretch so wide, With braided rivers, side by side, To Dunedin's streets, a Scottish claim, Where history whispers out each name. And far below, the Stewart Isle, A place of quiet, peaceful style, Where little penguins waddle home, And albatrosses silently roam. This land of islands, two and more, A treasure rich from shore to shore. From volcanic fire to glacial ice, A paradise of sacrifice, Of pioneers who built with might, And Māori hearts that hold the light. A Aotearoa, land of the long white cloud, A whispered promise, spoken proud.

Has potential but has some issues. I like the look of the place, fresh, open and breezy. But, last time I was here I ordered chilli eggs. There was no detectable sign of chilli. My wife, who's not a chilli eater tried it with the same result. This time we arrived, sat down and waited (it's not busy). After 5 minutes I went to get water. I was told they can bring it to the table as if I didn't have to ask. Why did I have to get up and ask. Staff are just standing around talking to each other. When the water was brought out it was in no way chilled. Not a real issue. But the glasses just came out the steriliser and were so hot we had to wait a while before we could separate them. I think they need a change in manager. Someone that pays attention.

I recently ordered a flat white. I must say that I was extremely disappointed with the overall quality of the drink. The taste was incredibly bland, to the point where I couldn't even detect the presence of coffee in it. It lacked the rich, robust flavors that I usually associate with a well-prepared flat white.

Moreover, the lack of crema on top was a clear indication that something was amiss. A good flat white should have a beautiful layer of crema, which adds depth and complexity to the drink. Unfortunately, this was completely missing from my cup.

To make matters worse, the milk foam resembled tiny bubbles rather than the velvety texture I expect in a flat white. The absence of creamy microfoam further contributed to the overall disappointment.

As a coffee lover, I believe that attention to detail is crucial when it comes to crafting a satisfying cup of coffee. This particular flat white fell far short of expectations, both in terms of flavor and presentation.

I hope the café takes this feedback constructively and works on improving the quality of their coffee drinks. A well-made flat white should be a delight to the senses, and I genuinely hope future customers have a better...
