Greenhithe is a classic greenbelt area ... and this cafe in the heart of Greenhithe village should be a top notch pucker nosh place to share good food and enjoy coffee or favourite beverage. However on this occasion it was far from the case. My guest and I (we are both locals living in Greenhithe Village) ordered a Burger each from the daily menu. One Chicken burger and one Beef, both included fries ... Service was good and pleasant with our coffees, but then the food order arrived ... The food on this occasion was presented as less than sub standard (as has happened once before) ... Both serves of fries were very overcooked with some burnt fries actually left on the plate to see. Burger buns were both showed large black burns to the top and bottoms respectively. The Chicken portion of the Chicken Burger contained more skin and fat than was actual Chicken meat and closely resembled two week old burnt KFC. The Beef Burger fared no better with the Beef strips looking and tasting like South African dried meat Biltong (Jerky), when eaten. It pays to grab a toothpick or two if you eat here !! .... To add insult to injury the tomatoes in the buns were off and verging on rotten, the limp lettuce component appeared like last weeks salad. ..... We will not be recommending this cafe for food but strictly limit Collins House Cafe to beverages only and preferably hot only. ...The plus side of Collins House in Greenhithe Village is sitting outside in the garden area but you can do this at the reserve too with take away coffees .... inside Collins House cafe, all the table tops are dirty and sticky, due to not being cleaned down properly of old beer and other food debris which attracts quite a few black flies around your food and drink ......
Read moreAbsolutely unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour from the owner (Asian female) during my visit. I politely asked if it was possible to have my salad without coriander, to which she responded with, it's doesn't come with coriander, I said oh, awesome, has it changed? She says, NO, it never has. I say, I come here ALOT, I always have to remove it...she says, in a very condescending attitude, loudly“Remove healthy salad!” while entering the order into the system. I attempted to clarify that I still wanted the salad, just without the coriander, but was rudely interrupted with, “Yeah, I know.” When I expressed why she was upset, she gave me an evil stare. I said, you know what, do not worry, I will no longer support your business, you have no respect for your customers. she dismissively responded with, “OK, bye.”
Completely disrespectful and disappointing customer service. I will not be returning. I do...
Read moreThe Collins Cafe used to be one of my favorite Cafes until today. The quality and service are amazing, but they can't have a 5 Star when ripping you off, taking advantage of a public holiday: $8,60 for a caramel latte!!! Just because they open today!!!! It's pretty disappointing, indecent and shameless. I was going to ask for my money back, but they had the cafe ready really quickly, so I just left. As they punished me for having the terrible idea of asking for a coffee on a public holiday, I punished them back with a bad review, and with losing me as a customer, because I strongly disagree with business owners doing these nasty things, especially considering how hard the economy is right now. Unbelievable they have the nerve to charge almost double. By the way, I wasn't even asked for the size, they just charged me and gave me the biggest coffee, which is actually ridiculously...
