Elsie's Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Waikato

This is the first and last time we ever go here. The atmosphere was nice but the tables are tiny. We were seated and left to look over the menu, we decided on the seas food chowder. Place our order about 3 minutes later we were told there was no seafood chowder left. It would have been nice to know this from the beginning, we choose the shrimp cocktail which was nice but expenses at $20 each for what we got. Our mains come out while we were still eating the entree. For main hubby ordered fish and chips and I ordered the nachos. Hubby said the fish and chips were ok but the salad was not very appealing at all. I took one look at the nachos and wanted to send them back straight away, I decided to try them and honestly I have never eaten anything so revolting, the nacho chips were burnt onto the plate just like the cheese and the mince was disgusting it tasted off. Entrees: Shrimp cocktail & pork dumplings. Price - 4/5 Taste - 5/5 Portions - 5/5 Presentation - 4/5 Serving time - 5/5 *Could be a bit more creative with how you present/plate the shrimp cocktail, tasted delicious though.

Main: Pork ribs & Chicken + bacon fettuccine. Price - 5/5 Taste - 5/5 Portions - 5/5 Presentation - 4/5 Serving time - 5/5 *Ribs fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Fettuccine was so good, both dishes were satisfying.

Dessert: Chocolate mousse Price - 4/5 Taste - 3/5 Portions - 5/5 Presentation - 5/5 Serving time - 5/5 *Suggestion, please use a smaller spoon like a 10ml teaspoon. The spoon we had was too big, it was roughly a 15-20ml spoon. It was hard to scoop the mousse out from the narrow end of the dessert glass.

Overall Elsie's restaurant deserves a 5 star rating. Of all the restaurants I've been to, this place by far has the fastest service all the time. Not my first time here and definitely...

I have always loved Elsies Restuarant, I have recommended them to more people then I can count, and funny enough those people live in Tuakau and had never eaten there but had said they would def try it our after my recommendation. The food and chef are amazing and the price cannot be beaten, the new Restaurant manager is amazing too but sadly the one lady that works behind the bar is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered(and after reading some reviews here I see there is another complaint about her), I was told by management that the owner would contact me regarding the incident that occured which involved this particular lady (which sadly is doing a lot of harm to this good business) I have sadly waited in vain for 6 days now and no contact.
