Redoubt Bar and Eatery Morrinsville — Restaurant in Waikato

Went there for lunch with my mum and toddler daughter. The food was good for adults but isn't worth the price for a lunch. The chicken on kids menu was tasteless, not recommend. It wasn't very busy when we went there but unless you call a server over when you're ready to order they'll just walk past you after handing you a menu, no follow up check if you're ready to order. We wanted to move to a lower table because of the child and told the server this as we spotted that it looked like the people in it are ready to leave, and was told you can't just yet because there's still someone sitting there, uh....duh...we weren't just going to kick someone off their table, that's common sense, and thats a rude comment to your customer who's just letting you know so that you would know where to deliver the food when it's cooked. Amateur mistake maybe. That was my first lunch at Redoubt Morrinsville, not a great experience but I might give it another chance if I can justify the price of the food. Food and service excellent and staff really friendly. Bit pricey for a lunch menu.Alas chose to take the whole family for our golden wedding anniversary having booked the table I was really looking forward to a great night. There were 10 of us and 3 ordered the scallops and 2 ordered the steak with an instruction that 1 must not have the mushroom sauce as he was allergic to fungi. When the meals arrived the scallops were inedible as they were off and the smell was awful, then the steak arrived with mushroom sauce. This was returned and this meant he ended up eating on his own. All was pointed out and all we got was to be told that the chef said there was nothing wrong. I have worked as a catering instructor and know well when fish is off. The manager apologized and removed the cost of the 3 meals and that was it. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED a very special occasion ruined. I had to wipedown my table first before my friend and I could sit down. I had to call for service. I ordered Fishn Chips x2 and received 3 small strips of fish no bigger than a Piece of Fish a coleslaw and a handful of chips..$25+ x2. I had to call for service to order dessert x2 2 of the smallest scoops of ice cream and a small scoop of raspberry Sorbet. $13+ x2. You will never get another cent out of me. Absolutely disgusted. It was only because I had company is why I never walked out. I do not recommend this place at all. Oh and the Music was not only crapp music but it was to loud for my liking and you could not talk to the person across from you without yelling. And as we were leaving they turned the music up more.
