Karori Park Huang's Takeaway — Restaurant in Wellington

Used to be a fan! Asked for underdone and garlic chips be seperate from the rest of the food, waited 40minutes and when I got home the chips were all over cooked and crunchy and some of them were burnt black! I rang the shop and DAVID turned around and said “first of all we don’t have black chips” and hung up. Tried to ring back he refused to get on the phone. Took the food back, and showed him! Still no apology just young David refusing to apologise or acknowledge the burnt chips. Justifying it because it wasn’t noted to have my order underdone and apparently half the chips being burnt and the rest over cooked isn’t a big deal! You shouldn’t let David deal with customers. A paying customer should be listened to not called a liar and hung up on. Not be dismissed when in store. Rudely handed my money back, still no apology!!!!! Will absolutely never return to this shop!!! Worst customer service!!! I would’ve been fine with an apology but nope!

Edit.. reply to Alan. I have photos of more than 3/4 chips being burnt black.. the portion was not huge but I will acknowledge every other time I have been in the portions have been a lot bigger. A female took my order over the phone and it was repeated so unsure who you spoke to. If David was busy he should never have taken the phone to then tell me I was lying and hang up. Who then could still not apologise once I was in the store. While the chips were nice, we had cheese on them and it wasn't melted. We grilled it in the oven when we got home and the cheese still hardly melted, not sure which type of cheese they used but definitely wasn't fresh and tasted like it was highly processed and almost like false cheese. Burger was okay, classic fish and chip type of burger. Corn fritter was very very average. The one thing that was great was the scallop! Great batter and taste, prawn spring rolls were good too. Wontons were definitely overcooked and not a lot of meat which is fairly common, overall pretty average, would probably go somewhere else for fish and chips. Fish and chips is very good. Chips are crisp outside and fluffy inside, just the way they should be, and more consistently excellent than some hotels and cafes can manage. The Asian meals are ok, although fried rice was outstanding, generous portions and enough "wok breath" (where the rice has been exposed to sufficient heat in a hot wok long enough so it tastes like fried rice, not just rice warmed in a wok). Service is fine for a takeaway, efficient and polite, can't fairly expect anything more. Make sure your order is repeated back to you to avoid mistakes, especially over the phone, as it's a noisy...
