Olive Grove Cafe & Gifts — Restaurant in Wellington

The place is super spacious and has really comfortable chairs. I had an afghan and strawberry milkshake and oh my word, the afghan is a generous size and very delicious, don’t be fooled by how small it looks in the photo! I can’t wait to visit again and see what other tasty food/drinks they have. The only reason I am giving a 4/5 rating is because there were two tables that hadn’t been cleared the entire time I was there (which would have been about 30mins). There were a few customers but the staff didn’t appear to be run off their feet, so I would have thought that maybe the tables could have been cleared then? Although it’s possible they never noticed? However I have never worked in the hospitality industry so I have no idea how it works. Overall, the uncleared tables didn’t cause an impact because there weren’t many customers...

Extremely disappointed… the chips we got were undercooked and when told to the waitress we were told that this was due to the quality of potatoes in NZ … seriously that’s the excuse for not cooking them well! The chicKen in the Sammies was processed chicken and tasteless. When we complained we were told we could not get a refund as we had eaten some of it. The poppyseed cake was dry and tasteless and initially we were told we could not get a refund as we had not tasted it .. so we did take a small forkful before that was refunded! I mentioned that they had managed to disillusion me on Kiwi food and service after I had been coming home for 30 years to no complaints. This is a favorite with my dad. Great coffee, reasonable prices. Good food too, Usually go for breakfast, which has always been of consistently good quality. They have a full breakfast menu with other items as well. Counter options are plentiful and look great. Large space with lots of seating. Its not a cosy little place. But it maintains a nice cafe style environment. Probably always a table avaliabe. They could seat large groups if needed. Service has always been friendly and prompt.
