A wise friend once told me that the state of the decor in an eatery is an indicator of the quality and service you can expect... please see attached image. The tandoori chicken entree was drier west coast summer road kill and when I expressed this I got a shoulder shrug and an "ah well that's no good" from the pleasantly blunt server. Beware of the spicy factor. Mild is bland, perfect for kids. Medium has added chili...a lot of added chili...and nothing else. An average experience made bearable by the fact that I was hungry.

Im not sure why this place has negative reviews! We ordered all veg food and it was amazing! I lived in india for 5 months and the food tasted authentic, especially the saag tofu dish(even though they don't use tofu in India, but great to have the option since I don't eat paneer). The best thing was the kashmiri naan, WOW I could have eaten 10 of them they were so good and unique. Thank you copper pot 💕

Don’t waste your money. All the curries were at least $26, ordered butter chicken and it was soooo sweet like straight tomato purée out of a can, said it was made that way because ingredients for proper butter chicken is hard to acquire in nz ??? Partner ordered fish malabari and it was chunky. Don’t even bother spending so much for curry. If I could give it no stars I would. Please go anywhere else.

Not a good experience, won’t be back. They obviously want takeaway business but not dining in.

We walked in for a weekday lunch around 12pm. We are the first and only customer. Want a quick meal. Quickly placed the order as we are hungry.

We were waiting for at least 30mins for our main dishes. Even we are the only cx dining in. And there was no take away order ahead of us. take away customer even get the meal before us(we ordered same thing, chickpea curry)

Butter chicken was plain and the chickpea curry tasted exactly like tomatoe paste and chickpea from the can, mix and warmed up in a microwave.

We don’t like wasting so I thought to use it for the pizza for the night(replace tomato paste) so I asked for a small sauce container to take the sauce away. There was a dead ant inside the container and I only saw it when I poured the sauce in...

When we paid, they asked for $1 for that small sauce container, as it’s a “take away”container. It is the size for ketchup at the fish chips shop. I don’t mind to pay as we all know the increase of the price of everything in nz. However, I do prefer to know before not after.

I asked why it was the same price for take away meal as they don’t need to pay for the containers? I didn’t have an answer for it.

At the end I paid for extra$1 for some tomato paste.

Not a happy feeling you usually have...

I had the pleasure of lunching at Copper Pot, and it was an unforgettable experience. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed Indian cuisine this exquisite. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavor, made from fresh ingredients and prepared with care using ancestral recipes.

What impressed me most was the purity of the food—no sugar added, just genuine Indian cooking that honors tradition. The spices were perfectly balanced, and each bite felt both comforting and refined.

The service was outstanding: professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The staff made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in.

If you’re looking for a truly authentic Indian lunch made with integrity and passion, Copper Pot is an absolute gem. I’ll...

I would not normally give low rating to a business unless they are missing something really badly. In this case the food was below average and rest I dont care. I am least bothered about service and ambience but only care about food. These guys have made one of the worst Indian food I have ever had in my life, they injected the dishes with the so much extra salt, that I would normally eat in 1 month. We ordered 3 dishes and none of them was tasty at all. Plenty of salt in all 3 dishes and paneer was full of cardamom (enough to have it a year combined for small user like us). I can make better paneer dish at home. Waste...
