Absolute delight coming here! ❤️ ORDER Breaded butterfly prawn - ₦ 7,000 - Starter. Pan fried fish (served with rice or fries) - ₦8,000 - Main Dish. Classic Caesar Salad (prawns, fresh Parmesan & golden croutons. - ₦6,500 Stories Mint Island - ₦4,000 REVIEW Breaded Butterfly Prawn.
Butterflying a prawn is a knife skill that makes the prawn look bigger when opened up, so yeah, in regards to the size of the prawn I got? I’m sure this technique was used. Again, because the prawns were breaded? I may be wrong 🤷🏾♀️ I liked that this was crunchy on the out, tender on the inside! 🤤 & it came with 3 types of sauce 😋. I tried to mix all the sauce together & it worked perfectly with the prawn. If the chips were homemade chips? It’d have been such a combo 😍 Classic Caesar salad.
I thought the Caesar dressing was creamy, rich & tangy. I liked that it didn’t taste fishy. If the Caesar dressing is the restaurants recipe? That’s an actual classic! I liked that its content wasn’t mixed together, I was given that choice. Then the prawn in this salad was coated in another sauce that brought this whole dish together! 👌🏾 The problem I had, was with the crouton, it wasn’t seasoned nor golden. In its texture, it was toasted rather than rebaked. Pan Fried Fish
The texture of this fish reminded me of the texture of omelette. It’s a thin layer of fish that was placed on vegetables (carrot & cucumber) Then the sauce that came with this dish? Again, the sauce was creamy, tasty & rich. The fish was supposed to come with mashed potatoes but they didn’t have & I chose sweet potato chips. Stories Mint Island.
Asides from the creativity in the making of this cocktail? I thought this was sheer Smirnoff, other ingredients were watered down because of the Smirnoff. _ Upon entering this restaurant, it was full of light (indoors), beautiful space & art I found very interesting.
I’d give it to them for presentation, all were plated nicely, nothing was out of place.
In regards to service, the waitress that attended to me was somewhat clueless about the menu - there were back & forth in regards to what I wanted to order. Although, she claimed it was a new menu. I still didn’t think her excuse was valid. Plus wait time was long!
Highlight coming to @storieslagos, has to be the art, the beautiful spaces, creativity & technique of the food. I’d definitely come back.

Read moreWe had my friends Birthday Dinner there yesterday. We booked a Table. (They have a minimum spend of 200k for a table, we spent about 260k). The food took 1hour 15 minutes to arrive. Mind you, we were just 7. We ordered different simple meals, like pasta and Pepper soup and Mashed Potatoes. I had a strawberry Daiquiri, it melted completely before the food arrived. The waiter apologized and kept smiling (that was a little aggravating because we were starving at this point and trying not to seem like we were checking on the food delivery too much) My real issue was when we wanted to take a group photo, we had finished eating, everyone was heading out when we clocked that there was no single picture of the birthday dinner. We asked our waiter to please get a picture of us and he obliged. He noticed the pictures were dark and proceeded to turn on the light. Next thing we know, a lady starts to shout at him to turn the light off. And when I ask her what the problem is, she proceeded to roll her eyes at me and continue to say things I didn’t understand. VERY RUDE! Now, as much as I understand the many rules associated with picture taking in restaurants in lagos, I want to ask when it became a crime to immortalize a memory with ONE GOOD PICTURE! After a birthday dinner?! We didn’t come there with tripods or lights, we had paid our bills, had our laughs and we were on our way out! We were also all SEATED! In our booth! Backing the wall, not disturbing the other patrons! I won’t be back here. Ever. It’s a shame that people in the hospitality business in Nigeria consider even the smallest favours to be something to tussle over. It’s a shame. And it was a bad experience for me. My friend says this place has been around for a long time and I’m genuinely shocked. Because the snail pace of bringing food, the hostility and then small things (for example the table didn’t have a pepper and salt shaker. When my friend needed extra salt on her chips, they brought it in a tiny ceramic bowl. She had to dip her hands inside to pinch the salt and sprinkle! In 2025? You people don’t know that’s nasty? So what will you do with the remaining salt? Because how are your customers pinching salt from bowls?!!!)

Read moreI decided to overlook the first experience I had here & proceed to go there for my birthday,it was the worst mistake of my life
There was a particular lady that was very rude, was talking to me & my friends like we are kids, there was no supervisor on ground to report to cause the services we got yesterday was underwhelming & i'd never be visiting or recommending that place to anyone
It first started with them making one of my friends goatmeat pasta & sunrise mocktail, she wasn't on sit and they just dropped it there while we went to snap pictures & it got called
Like that wasn't enough the strawberry cake I got for my celebrations was stale,I couldn't eat it my friends tried but it was a no even when they brought it,they just dropped it in my front with no courtesy & walked up,I wasn't even expecting an orchestra but atleast smile & say happy birthday now.
The portion of my food was small for a 25k pasta, very underwhelming too like they just poured tomato paste,I've also had way better gin basil that's lesser than 15k
Another friend wanted a pasta that's not soggy or two soft, they said it's not possible cause their pasta is always half boiled & that pissed her off cause it's supposed to be freshly made
Lastly we sat outside waiting for our ride when one of the bartenders with earrings told 4 of us to move sit so 1 man can sit down when there is plenty other seats,if that's not sexism i don't know what it is when it's not like we aren't a paying customer
Lastly,I asked my food be packed as take out & it's the worst packing I've ever seen in my life,so carefree & non chalant
I sent a DM & they said management will get in touch with me, haven't heard anything & ive moved on from it.
First Experience:- My girls and I were turned away apparently cause the whole place was already booked..I mean you could have a banner outside or something instead of being walked out...Not sure I'm going back! This was...
