Update: Ordering for delivery is glacially slow. I mean the young lady replying to the What'sApp order is delayed with each response. When spending this kind of money ... It's not unreasonable to expect promptness.
It's a 45min printed wait for the Tomahawk. The menu shows veggies and a potato for the Tomahawk... It took almost 17min from the time I sent a message to order to get notice it only comes with potatoes. Veggies are extra.
That high praise from the initial visit is letting me know to just dine in before I give up hope. And, they're out of Pepper Sauce. How?! It's a Nigerian staple just go buy from the grocery store and make more sauce. Pics added. Rating remaining at 4 star
1st - Shout out to reviewers/prior diners. Their experiences helped me enjoy mine. I was prepared due to their feedback. 2nd - they clean all around yet someone could stand to make a trip to the 1 toilet I visited. Between each guest go wipe things down and sanitize at this price point. 3rd - concept is totally NYC or Chicago. Modern Contemporary & bless them for keeping the music at a reasonable level. 4th - Kudos for explaining menu items ala the Americana they are offering. This told me to avoid that grilled cheese due to allergens. #LifeSaving
Why 4 stars not 5? Primarily because the Tomahawk needs seasoning before searing. I don't know if they're relying heavily on the butter and rosemary but that was some "Fresh" (meaning unseasoned) beef. Great cut, served cut as requested, good fat ratio alongside the meat Mashed Potatoes could stand to have more cream or balance the cream/water ratio. Roasted potatoes need roasting versus just frying. Look, I love a fried potato but my cholesterol could've done without because yes... Also ordered the Macaroni and Cheese. They were done well and can be their own entree.
Drinks: Fresh pineapple juice was so sweet I felt guilty but it didn't stop me from taking it down so quickly. Berry smoothie - divine. I told the young server this can't be healthy. Y'all it really is worth every penny. Frozen Strawberry Margarita - just okay. They're not heavy pourers on the tequila but they are all clean and sanitary behind the bar as I watched. Stout via Can - hand to wipe the first one before he poured it in the glass. Before bringing a second one the server was cleaning that can at the bar. Honeyyyyy, that's called teachable and quick learner. I so love people that care about their work.
Overall, 4 stars for having everything in stock. Yep, I've learned to call ahead to avoid disappointment because traffic isn't easy neither free. 4 stars because the steak but kudos for Maple reading reviews and training their staff to avoid repeated known issues.
Of course, I'm returning. I look forward to avocado toast with a...
Read moreI had the most decadent brunch at Maple Restaurant. The service was impeccable, and I was served by the most dutiful, pleasant, and attentive Waiter - Emmanuel. He understood the menu and was able to recommend my brunch meal and Mocktail. He was also patient with me as he offered to take several instagrammable pictures of me with my food. I recommend you look for Emmanuel when you visit.
Now to the Food...oh la la... I've always been one to stick with traditional meals, especially when it comes Breakfast or Brunch. You'll normally catch me having a full English breakfast at notable restaurants, but I decided to try something new. I went ahead to try the Cheesecake French Toast and a Mocktail called Forgotten Berry. 😋 (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED).
My brunch came looking so pretty and exquisite that I almost didn't want to eat it. I enjoyed every morsel of my meal. The French toast was warm and squishy and delicious. It came with complimentary eggs, a sausage, two rashers of bacon, and maple syrup to pour. It also had a generous dollop of Whipped Cream...mhmm yum. Every bite was memorable. It was a fine mix of sweet and savoury. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The portions were satisfactory and worth the amount paid.
The Maple has a chilled classy and minimalist ambience with calm hues and balanced with contemporary furniture, which is very appealing. The chairs are very comfy, and if you aren't careful, you may find yourself lost in this space...I mean why not? They have nice sofa like chairs, which is comfy.
The Forgotten Berry Mocktail was a dream...very delicious....not overly sweet. It had a subtle herby tang to it and was so refreshing. It was a mix of Pineapple juice, Rosemary leaf and other ingredients. I actually wanted more as it was so refreshing. I think they have a wide variety of cocktails and a good variety of mocktails.
The staff were so friendly and they made me feel comfortable. The place was neat. However, the parking lot is a downer, though, but you will be able to park just on the street.
I'll definitely be coming back for seconds. I need to try another Brunch or their Diner meals...either way I'm definitely coming back, and I...
Read moreI regret to say that this establishment falls far short of expectations.
The management seems to struggle in maintaining order and efficiency. The staff appears disorganized, leading to chronic delays in food service and numerous customer complaints.
The level of service is extremely disappointing. It's a waste of both money and time, as the lack of respect for customers' schedules is evident.
During my visit, which lasted an excessive two hours, the initial attention took a quarter of an hour. The server, who didn't bother to introduce herself, merely stood there, making the interaction awkward. My simple order of a croissant and smoothie took over half an hour to be served. Further, it took an additional half hour just to be informed that my main dish, chicken and waffles, was unavailable due to a lack of waffles—a detail that should have been known immediately. The restaurant wasn't even busy.
When offered pancakes as a substitute after nearly an hour and a half of waiting, I declined, frustrated by the prolonged wait and constant customer complaints around me.
This has been my most disappointing dining experience in Lagos to date. I have no intention of returning, nor would I recommend it to friends or family.
I strongly advise the management to address these...
