I found Bulgaria Milk and Flesh on Instagram and decided that will be my next stop. It’s location and appearance got me concerned as I arrived to see a different feel from what I saw on IG. I had to ask the security men if I was at the right spot.
Apparently there’s a sit-out lounge and a proper restaurant setting inside. My mind was at ease but I was expecting more from the place. I heard Bulgaria so I guess I was looking out for flags, music and a feel of the Bulgarian culture. I didn’t get any of that. Luckily though, the menu had the Bulgarian flavours in it.
So I settled down and took my time to look at the menu (even though I did that already on Instagram and believed I knew what I was ordering). For starters, I had the chicken wings and my host ordered pepper soup (the meat in it was massive). For main, I had PeneAllaVodka with Chicken (comes with fries and it’s a whole meal on its own. I wish I knew. Lol) and my host had Bulgarian Seafood Pasta (creamy and rich). For drinks, it was Strawberry Oreo Milkshake (the bomb!!!) and Oreo cookies and cream (hard pass for me).
The meal was tasty, delicious and really filling. We had to take the rest home because we were stuffed. The packaging for that was also 100%.
Kudos: The meal was very good. Pricey but good. The Milkshake didn’t disappoint. I think it’s a general price on that. Background music wasn’t anything Bulgarian but pure updated Naija playlist Call button. Prevents you from screaming or trying to catch the attention of the waiter. Variety of board games available to keep you entertained.
Issues:
The toilet. One toilet for all gender? Not advisable. The toilet was clean and mirrored though. They have to find a solution to the hefty mosquitoes spotted. Can’t eat and go home with malaria. Starters should start not getting all meals ordered at once. Made the table look rich though. Lol
Bulgaria M&F obviously have a lot to offer. More people need to be aware of this place as it seems hidden and unknown.
P. S. ask for Melvin, he is...
Read moreThe spot is easy to miss as there’s no outdoor banner indicating you are at Bulgaria. I was surprised to see how compact the restaurant was considering what it looked like from pictures. You can also choose to dine either inside or outside.
That being said, it is a pretty place and the customer service was excellent, we were given peanuts to snack on while waiting for our order. I also browsed the little bookshelf for a novel to flick through.
The tagliatelle and chicken pasta was sumptuous with just the right amount of cheese and flavour, the Bulgaria fried rice was well complimented with veggies except it needed some seasoning to be 100%. Finally, the jumbo prawns were quite chunky and meaty but was also missing some flavour.
The to-go packaging was eco-friendly and the drinks...
