I ate here this past week as I was staying at the hotel, which made it very convenient.
For the starter I ordered the cured meats and cheeses. I asked if they cut the meat fresh and it wasn't precut or anything like that, which they said was the case.
The meats and cheeses seemed to be of good quality and I had a good enough time with the starter as a whole. The foccacia with aioli also fit well and tasted good.
For the main I got the chicken parmigiana. I did consider getting a pasta for my main, but as they said they did not freshly make their own pasta and instead relied on dry pasta for their dishes, I decided against it. Personally, I do not find it overly acceptable that an Italian restaurant uses dry pasta instead of making their own fresh ones, but alas.
The chicken parmigiana was fine enough. The chicken was nice and moist, and the cheese didn't feel too overpowering. The rice underneath did a fine job of tying things together so I don't have anything special to complain about regarding my main. That being said, while the dish was decently tasty and filling, it didn't leave me with any kind of wow factor, which is what I ultimately wish for when going to a restaurant.
My father who was also with me ordered the inner filet of beef for his main. He was not overly happy with his appearantly, as he wanted more potatoes and that the vegetables were treated differently, and he did not like the red wine sauce much either. My father is very particular about what he likes though, so take that as you will.
For desert I got the tiramisu, as I was told it was fully homemade. The desert largely lived up to expectations, and I found it to taste well and have a good balance in consistency and flavor.
My father had the three sorbets for dessert, but he only got three of the same sorbet. I would have liked them to have three different ones in this case for variety, so it didn't feel so monotonous.
Their bar selection was severely lacking in my mind, though they are not a bar so that's I suppose to be expected. I got a Moscow mule and then a cognac. They did not have copper cups left as they had all been stolen but I happened to be able to get the last remaining one.
The staff were quite nice and welcoming as well. Clearly well trained and accommodating. Both the ones working that night seemed very capable and helpful and kind, which made the experience all that much better.
The looks and atmosphere of the restaurant was also good, as they clearly have taken some time and effort to make it look and feel higher end.
As a whole a decently good restaurant visit, though the prices were definitely on the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this luxurious restaurant in Norway, and I can't recommend it highly enough. From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the impeccable atmosphere - it exudes luxury and sophistication. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, which is particularly important in these times.
The view from the restaurant is simply breathtaking; it adds a magical touch to the entire dining experience. But what truly stood out to me were the drinks and cocktails. They were not only exquisitely crafted but also incredibly fresh and delicious. Each sip was a delightful journey for my taste buds.
The staff, without a doubt, contributed significantly to the overall charm of this place. They were attentive, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. However, it was the bartender "Zardasht" who truly stole the show. Their expertise in mixology is unparalleled, and the drinks they created were nothing short of works of art.
In summary, this restaurant offers an extraordinary experience that combines top-notch service, delectable cocktails, a luxurious atmosphere, and a mesmerizing view. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a truly memorable dining experience. I can't wait to return and savor those delicious...
Read moreUpdate Sept 2022, Ah, the chefs must be back and we now have a place to get genuine Italian comfort food in Fredrikstad.
If you're cravings leaning Italian this is your place.
Update 21.01.2022 Something must have happened during lockdown. It was a disaster, they destroyed the pasta and left a heavy lump on the plate. What they did to the chicken I’m not even able to say.
No acknowledgement from staff when I commented and left full plate, charged full price.
“Perfect evening”
Before I return I need to be convinced they actually have a real chef working there,
Old review; I was sceptical, but what a great experience of Italy. Great place with genuine italian food. Would not be shocked if lady and the tramp was dining...
