I have been having dinner there twice. First time the waiting time was very long and the dessert was carbonised. I ordered brioche for dessert and it was completely burnt, black. I asked the waitress who went to talk the chef, and she came back saying that the chef said it was normal, that it was supposed to be black as « caramelised ». Issue is it was uneatable as not caramelised but clearly burnt, not only visually but taste wise! I decided to still give it a second chance as I did like the place, and went there a second time. Food was then quite disappointing (some very good, some really not good) and service was the worse I have ever experienced. It is actually the first time I write a review and I do it as we actually felt outraged by how bad the service was, rude attitude and unacceptable behaviours from the staff - never experienced or witnessed such things. Read moreAn Unforgettable Dining Experience at Bente
Our dinner at Bente was nothing short of extraordinary. The seven-course menu was a journey through rich and diverse flavors, offering creative and unexpected combinations that truly set it apart from the usual fine dining experience. Every dish was carefully crafted, but two stood out in particular: the incredibly indulgent potato purée and the exquisite dessert—both absolute highlights.
However, what truly made the evening special was the outstanding service. The staff made us feel right at home, welcoming us with a warmth and spontaneity that turned the dinner into a genuinely memorable experience. Their informal yet attentive approach made all the difference, creating an atmosphere that was both relaxed and refined.
Bente is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Oslo. A fantastic experience from start to finish—we cannot recommend it enough!

The service was really great and personal - the owner fx came down and took his time to find the perfect wine for us and the chef approached us to check if a minor change in a side was ok with us. The place itself was cozy with candles ect. and elegant, but in a slightly edgy/hipster way, making it feel less up tight. The only negative thing I could say is that it was maybe 10% too dark in the restaurant for my taste. Would def recommend as a cute place for a date and even for students like myself, since the prices are also super fair. (Usually don’t write reviews, but this evening made my week, so...
