To make this fair, I'll start off with the good bits.
The ambience, and the wait staff. It was impeccably clean, sanitised, with a very appealing aesthetic. Ample number of screens for whichever sport you want to watch. Sports memorabilia adorn the walls, making it a really excellent looking sports bar. The staff are attentive and polite, and don't seem to miss a beat. So far so good.
That's where it ends, sadly.
The menu is absurdly limited, especially considering - a)this is a sports bar and b) it is in the JW Marriott. They had about 10 or 12 beers in total (tap+bottle) and out of that they had one missing. Even the spirits list is small , almost IKEA-esque in its minimalism.
The food makes for an even poorer showing. We ordered chicken wings, and one of two things is true - either they took the wings from a very young and small sized chicken, or these particular chickens were in the latter phases of a newfangled diet. I now know what the prospectors in the late 1800s felt like, wearying ourselves to find that valuable nugget. Absolutely farcical to call that "chicken wings". I even made a note of that to the very polite and empathetic wait staff who tended to us. Clearly this is out of his control but he did seem to understand the point we were making. I must emphasize again, the menu here as well - far too small for a restaurant of this stature.
At the end of the day, the damages came to 32 OMR - inclusive of 2 beers, 1 plate of "wings" and 2 sliders. I use the word damages deliberately.
I so want to like this place, but one expects more from a place like this. In a town where good hangouts are sparse, new spots like these need to offer something different, and give us folks something to gush over. To be honest, I'd even be hard-pressed to say they offer more of the...
Read moreGood vibes, great music but that’s where it ends. We ordered 2 glasses of beer, guac and chips - tiny portion of average tasting guac with a mountain of chips for 4.5 OMR, Caesar salad (again average) for 6.5 OMR and the Legend Burger - the most expensive and premium burger on the menu for 14 OMR which was supposed to come with truffle fries. The Burger was the biggest let down of the evening- the patty was unsalted and tasteless, they served regular fries instead of truffle fries and blamed us for not specifying truffle fries (not sure why did we need to since their menu specifically MENTIONED truffle fries with this burger). They replaced the fries with what was apparently truffle fries - they were not! They were still regular fries, served cold and sprinkled with some Parmesan cheese and chives. The staff needs training. Do not expect the JW Marriott hospitality or quality here. The prices do not justify the food and the service. They had an awesome DJ who played great music through the night - the only enjoyable part of the experience. Please avoid this...
Read moreWe were there just yesterday for their ladies' night, and we loved the vibes. It was our very 1st visit to Butter Buns and JW MARRIOTT in general, and as I keep saying, it's always the people that make or break the experience.
We had a lovely experience and I can't thank the staff enough for making us feel warm and welcoming, especially Govind, who was on his toes throughout the evening, taking care of all our demands with a smile. Thank you, Govind, for your super friendly service. Keep up the good work.
The bar tender Reddy made amazing cocktails. You have to reach early to make justice to these amazing drinks. He was all by himself and doing a great job dishing out different cocktails to all the women around. Thanks Reddy. we will definitely come again.
Last but not least, everyone was pleasant, the music was great, the vibes were amazing ❤️ 🙌 💕 Thank you one...
