I had an absolutely terrible experience at Novikov Cafe Muscat. I called to make a reservation two days in advance, The lady on the phone asked whether I wanted coffee and sweets, lunch, or dinner. I confirmed coffee and sweets and was given a booking for a table of six.
The staff treated us with extreme rudeness. We were told that we could not sit for more than an hour. They highly pressured me that I only had one hour and that I had to order immediately, although I was waiting for my other friends to arrive. They came to me more than once within five minutes, and I felt really pressured to order. When I told them why they hadn’t informed me earlier that it was just for one hour, they said, "You told us that you are coming for dessert and coffee," as if I should have known from that it’s for one hour.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard of such a policy, honestly. I explained to them that I had driven 30 minutes to get there and that if I had known we could only stay for one hour, I would not have come or invited my six friends.
Despite this, they didn’t care, and their attitude was like, "if you don’t like what we are offering, you can leave." No action was taken to address my concerns, as they clearly didn’t care about customer satisfaction.
When I asked if they could do anything to accommodate us, they simply said, "Sorry, we can’t do anything," as if I was asking for a big favor and not my right as a customer to enjoy my visit. It was clear that they just wanted me to leave.
It was the first time I heard that a restaurant forces you to eat dinner or lunch at 4:30 PM! As they were saying they don’t accept people coming for coffee and dessert!. Either way, I am spending money! I should be free to order what I want.
After seeing and being mistreated in this way, I couldn’t stand sitting in the place anymore.
I have visited multiple Novikov branches around the world and have always had amazing experiences. I was thrilled when Novikov opened in Oman, but this incident has ruined my day and has left me deeply disappointed. The staff's rudeness and lack of hospitality, especially from the main two managers, have left a lasting...
Read moreFantastic new spot in town!
A cosy cafè, with a really nice ambiance, and very friendly staff. It is quite quiet in the venue, so bear that in mind if you are looking to have a loud, and rambunctious kind of outing.
You actually have a view of the kitchen, which is really awesome. As your food is being prepared, you can witness the process of its preparation before it is served.
The lattes and the desserts are otherworldly. Personally, I ordered the Spanish Latte with Caramel, and Amalfi Lemon, which I highly recommend!
Additionally, the outdoors section was closed at the time of my visit, but if you manage to get a table by the window at least, you will have an amazing view of the hotel's swimming pool area.
Certainly cannot wait to go back, and I sincerely pray they maintain the quality of service I experienced...
Read moreI was really disappointed with my first visit to Novikov Café in Oman. I’ve been to Novikov in other countries and had excellent experiences, but this branch felt very unprofessional. My friends and I came for coffee and were planning to stay for dinner as well. Since we hadn’t seen each other in a long time, we spent some time talking before ordering the meal. Instead of checking with us or politely asking if we wanted to continue with dinner, the staff came over and told us the table had a reservation essentially asking us to leave. The restaurant was mostly empty, so this excuse felt unnecessary and very unwelcoming.Overall, the service was rigid and dismissive, which is not what I expect from Novikov’s reputation. I hope the management invests in better staff training so that guests feel respected and...
