Read moreGOOD:||Outstanding service at the desk. Room was spacious and clean. Instead of cabs ask them to call an uber (cheaper). If catching taxis or auto-rickshaws (latter is cheaper but negotiate price before you get in; often halve their first quote) back, best to say Anarkali, Food St rather than Hotel Tourist Inn. The hotel wi-fi good in the lobby and patchy in the room. Fridge cold; air con and fan great. Breakfast was a la carte of very good potato or veg curry, fried egg, pre-cooked omelette and strong but good milk tea. However the best aspect about the hotel is the surrounds. Our hotel is a block from tourist st (also called Food St) and the anarkali market. The 55pkr lassis are as good as the best in India; the 5pkr clay oven chapatis on the corner and the 20pkr tea we partake every day. The 70 pkr channa pulao is the very best pulao I have ever had. The Chicken biryani at Tourist St 130pkr is also fab. Chicken karahi and chicken boti are outstanding; half serves of 350pkr are enough. The anarkali market is a great stroll through clothes, fabrics, perfumery. Nearest metro is MAO College; costs 130pkr(refundable) for a Punjab Transit Card (20pkr per trip) and it allows you to go on the feeder buses (5-15pkr); all are A/C and opens up Lahore for the traveller.||NOT SO GOOD||Hot water was warm rather than hot but would be OK for the warm months. ||ELECTRICITY: at least 3 times a day the public electricity shuts down, usually for 10-50 min. This si not the hotel’s fault. The hotel has its own generator so fan & TV remains but...
Read moreSummary: workable if no other options, but not worth it, even if you're trying to stay near the walled city.
Unfortunately we did not have hot water 3 out of 4 days, wifi 2 out of 4 days, and they do not have a generator, so the electricity is spotty and it was difficult to charge our phones overnight. That in itself isn't a big deal, however the paint in the room was moldy and flaking, so each morning you would wake up caked in mold. You would want to shower the flakes out of your hair, however even the cold shower was always tricky as the water would cause more of the wall to cascade down on you (see videos). It's unbelievable that management doesn't know about this and chooses not to use a wire brush to remove the flaking wall or simply repaint.
For the price and lack of hot water, wifi, and stable electricity, I would suggest another property. We stayed at some other hotels further south and they were much more enjoyable for the same/cheaper price. If you want to stay near Anarkali bazar (which if you're a foreigner, I would suggest staying in a different area, as for us, this bazar was the least friendly area of Lahore and feels much more like India with scams then the lovely warmth you will experience everywhere else in Pakistan), there are lots of other hotels not listed on Google maps/booking.
I would have given one star, however the manager was quite professional and courteous when we had a miscommunication, so I want to give credit to such a kind and generous man who is managing such a...
