So I visited "Mehar Das Kulcha" (behind Masjid Wazir Khan in Androon) a few days ago and thought of writing this review... Where do I even begin?
The "kulcha" was served cold. The add-ons consisted of hollow phuklian, greasy aalu ki bhujia and tasteless chikar cholay - all of which were cold, if not outright stale. The add-ons were frankly inedible, so I asked him how much the odd looking kulcha would cost and he said it's for 70. 70 Rs for that miniature loaf! I spent the next half day wishing it'd get out of my system quickly.
I feel cheated! I came to a place with a supposed legacy and was treated to glorified overpriced pita bread, which was served with stale gruel. The fact that it was a mere 100 metres away from an open air toilet didn't make the experience any rosier.
The banner proudly said "puray Pakistan mai aik hi dukan" and it's obvious why...

If you are foodie and visiting Lahore. Must try this unique breakfast. Because you can’t have this breakfast anywhere in Pakistan. It’s Megan Das Kulcha. They are serving small kulcha (A kind of Sour dough). Serve with chickpeas gravy and salted fritters (infused with cumin seeds & caraway). Lohori people took it to next level when they add very fresh but a small portion of onion and tomato salad with a tablespoon of tasty Raita (yogurt sauce). As I pinned the location on google map and started following map , but that does not show it correctly so there was another shop of Das Kulcha. I unknowingly stopped there and asked for Mehar Das Kulcha. He said, sir try from us.
