The much talked about establishment is located in a very congested area of rawalpindi known as Kartarpura. The place has its own unique charm to it, with some vintage buildings telling tragic tales of their tumultuous past and current depravity. The shop is very modest but when it comes to taste it's anything but. Prepare to be blown away by the burst of flavors that will explode in your mouth as you take the bite out of this amazing nihari. I sampled their most popular version where they add nalli (cooked bone marrow) and maghaz (cooked brain masala), it was just fantastic.
The place wasn't sparkling clean but it served its purpose and such places aren't ever really overly clean so any germophobe must keep this in mind.
The waiters were active and the hustle and bustle of the area was very welcoming. However, where some customers may find fault is the price of this delicacy and the lack of proper parking space.
The price of their simple version (beef nihari) is 400 PKR, for nihari with nalli or maghaz it is 600 PKR and for adding both maghaz and nihari, you would have to cough up 800 PKR. This might be a steep price for some but it's totally worth the money, due to the taste and quality on offer. Secondly, parking space is a big issue but sadly there doesn't seem to be anything being done about it, for now one has to ensure that the car doesn't block the traffic and is adequately secured, no other option is available for motor vehicle owners.
The prospective customers should also understand that there are many fake shops surrounding this eatery, beware of going to a pretender and then not getting your money's worth. Thankfully I was able to locate the real place due to some friends from the local area. The photo posted should also help the would be patrons in that regard.
In the end, I would highly recommend the place to all those who are thinking about sampling some top quality beef nihari. I would have given it 5 stars had there not been other glaring issues mentioned above. Sample it yourself and you would be amazed at the taste and quality...
Read moreWent on a weekday morning to this place located on a very busy congested street of Kartarpura. This place is not modern but very traditional and clean, the staff was amazing, courteous, attentive, quick and caring. Meanwhile we were waiting to be served, I could see a lot of customers coming to get takeaway which is a definite sign of good quality food here. I miss their old wooden benches though.
Hot naan, crispy outside, soft inside, yummy for tummy and the first bit with this amazing tasting Nihari made my day a great start. In fact I am lost of words to express my feelings, no doubt very tasty Nihari I had after long time. The food served in traditional steel bowls and you can chos the quantity on base of your budget or go with their standard size which was by the way big serving size for me. I kept eating and could not stop but still couldn't manage to finish, I wanted more but my tummy told me not to be dummy, I ate lots and was full until dinner. You never know when you get such delicious food next time
The services was extraordinary, i felt like we got a buttler service. The server was continually checking and making sure we got anything we needed and was there like Jiny as soon as you raise your hand splashing through crazy traffic on the street. I love the ambiance, basic, simple clean,no fuss,no modern stuff, just amazing food.
The price is good for such amazing food, however you can request a smaller portion and they are happy to accommodate someone who is on small budget.
I would highly recommend this place for traditional Nihari which made my hometown...

At the very same place, there are four different Kala Khan Nehari centers. This one is the most primitive one and is said to be the oldest one called by a person who is visiting this place for over 40 years.
Tastes and quality of their Neharis are awsome. Service, hygiene and atmosphere is the worst.
Not easy to find hand washing place, decore is just very basic. If you need water, you will have to ask.
For us to take food, it took almost wait of 20 mins or more as there were no nan or roti readily available as there is no tandoor available in the facility.
We all suffered from upset stomach after taking the food on the next day.
If you care about taste and don't care about hygiene then you are at right place ;).
Owners, please dont take customer for granted. Competition is tough. Lost customer will rarely return....
