Pay by weight. Ten dollars for each pound of protein (all the meats and a few select vegetables). Six dollars for each pound of non-proteins (most of the vegetables).

Grab a large bowl and choose all the ingredients you envision your greatest soup to be. Then you have three soup base options to choose - normal, tomato, and spicy. If you choose spicy, there are three levels of it - cantonese, wuhanese, and sichuan. After being weighed, the items are brought to the cooks in the kitchen. They actually take their time cooking it so it comes out delicious.

My first time there I chose the normal soup option and it turned out to be more delicious than I expected. I took a decent amount of ingredients and it came to almost ten dollars. My second time there I chose the tomato soup option. I took a small amount of items and it came out to just six dollars and fifty cents. A good deal considering the amount.

I love the idea of choosing only the things you want in your soup. But be informed that the staff has to weigh the items in your bowl by separating the meats from the veggies. It can be a problem because the process looks silly and weird. But that is the way it is. By the way the lotus root vegetable, like all the meats, are considered proteins. The rest of the veggies are considered non-proteins.

I have lowered the rating after my third time here. The short haired lady boss was so incredibly rude to my mom. I won't ever return but I hope that others can still enjoy the niche this...

This is authentic Cantonese stall. From the decor, to the flavours, to the staff just shooting the breeze in the background reminds me of the good ol' Hong Kong. The menu has limited selection for a Cantonese place, but simple and good. I was able to order in Cantonese.

We ordered: shrimp wonton with meen (extra $0.25 for noodles) (5/5): good portion, soup base is flavourful, noodles are cooked just right, comes with 5 wontons, the shrimp and meat inside is marinated to perfection, and choy sum is fresh. braised beef brisket with lai fun (5/5): same as the wonton noodles, the broth is amazing, the lai fun was cooked al dente, the beef brisket was soft and gooey full of spice flavours. BBQ pork rice roll (Cheung fun) (4.5/5): the wall depicts that they use the traditional stone mill to grind the rice, but I didn't validate that claim. All I know is the rice rolls are soft, chewy and not over or under cooked. Minus 0.5 just because the BBQ pork wasn't incorporated into the roll and the pork used was subpar in flavour and portion. the walnut milk dessert (4/5): I tried it because it is just an extra $1. Really like the evaporated milk flavours but the walnut part didn't do much for me.

All this and came out to be under $17USD. We highly recommend this place. Thank you for staying true to the simple...

If you are looking for Cantonese Street Food, this is DA SPOT!!! Among their menu are wonton noodle soups, porridge, dumplings, basic Dim Sum favorites, roasted pork and duck, and choices of rice platters. Limited seatings, the service is fast but not good. Very authentic flavors. Unbeatable price quality ratio. Highly recommended.
