No matter where black americans go some chinese folks will always hate them even if they don't have a reason to. After shopping in El Dorado mall I thought I would check this place out as it was starred on my Google maps. I was not received well as a solo diner which could be because the chinese lady that sat me already had a problem with me anyway. She acted like she didn't want to recommend anything after I ask her in spanish. I asked in the same way I ask Panamanians every time I go to a restaurant so I knew she understood. I then watched how she greeted all the other incoming diners which was with a smile and friendliness. So a friendly Panamanian man ended up tending to me even though I wasn't in his section. The only issue I had with him was when I asked him to box my food to go, he stopped at another table to take their order with my plate in hand and then went to the host stand and set my food down behind it to place the order of the diners whose table he stopped at. Mind you, I was in close proximity to the kitchen so he should have told them one minute and put my food in the kitchen. Lastly, I had the cucumber salad whichnwas good and also the dish I wanted to go. The only issue was that the cucumbers where not cut the same size but look like someone broke them into various pieces and called it a salad. Maybe I dodged a bullet by not taking it with me. When the man tried to tell me I left my bag, I did respectfully let him know why I did to which...
Read moreThis is the most luxurious dim sum restaurant around. Once upstairs, you will see an interior built for royalty. Statues, carpeted floor, uniformed staff, all inside a professionally designed environment. The food is classic dim sum ushered around in push carts. They also serve specialty dishes a la cart.
Prices are very reasonable. Our table had five people, four of which were seniors. After the senior discount, our total cost was just over forty dollars. We had mostly classic dim sum dishes from the push carts.
The downstairs also includes tables but those are primarily meant for diners of the bakery which shares a space with the restaurant. It is an incredibly clever design. A separate business on the main floor in the form of a premium bakery and the beautiful restaurant upstairs. As a result, both businesses attract a trendy crowd.
No one will ever blame this place of being understaffed because there are a ton of employees. Even the bakery downstairs is overstaffed but that makes sure that customers are served fast. As a result, service is top notch. This place elevates the visual dim sum...
Read moreTheir discrimination against us so was obvious that we left after eating two horrible dishes as "dimsum". We were the only two non Panamanians. My 80 year old husband and I do not eat meat, we live in San Francisco, and travel more than 330 days a year. We have had numerous dimsums in numerous countries including Hong Kong. When they heard we do not eat meat, they decided to ignore us. After getting a shrimp dumpling, and a vegetable dumpling order, we waited for over 15 minutes but no one paid any attention. Both dishes were horrible. A Chinese restaurant without any vinegar or hot mustard and tea cups with handles!!!!! We asked for a check, and their utter incompetence showed its true face. We were never given a card!!! That was the worst experience in Panama City. This place gives bad name to all Panamanians. We walked to the nearby dimsum place and had great service. Wah Kee should be called Dimsum Slum but that would be an insult...
