I felt bad for the restaurant: the place had no customers on a Friday night. The owner probably has no idea why. (In all fairness, upon reading other reviews, I realize it is attached to a hotel. They may not really be aiming to serve non-hotel clients). I do, and perhaps he can fix some of the issues. By the way, the food is delicious. (1) During the day, looking at the river is the main draw. At night, people want romance and excitement. Get rid of the drab overhead lighting. Put candles or artificial candles on all the tables, and dim or turn off the overhead lighting; (2) light the entrance stairways and parking lot. People could trip and fall. No one wants to go to the hospital just to dine out; (3) The river is why your restaurant is special. Make it possible to enjoy the river at night. Light the river and riverside trees with floodlights. Also, have outdoor heaters available so customers can sit comfortably outdoors; (4) Add high quality speakers on the deck and play music that adds excitement to the evening, like jazz or ambient lounge; (5) Train your wait staff to think about the customers' needs. For instance, I had a baby and baby carriage. No one offered to help me carry the carriage up or down the thirty steps leading to the restaurant and deck. Normally I tip generously. You can guess how much I tipped that night. You truly have a unique location and delicious food. It's a shame you had no customers. I hope some of these suggestions are within your budget and can be implemented, and that you build a thriving...
Read moreI try to avoid hotel food at all cost, but there's not much around the Amak Hotel. So reluctantly we resigned to go to the Tawa Restaurante. Much to our surprise, we were greeted with an authentic and bright space with a panoramic view of the mountain side and the sound of a flowing river. Service was prompt and we ordered the skewered alpaca followed by a chicken roulade stuffed with ham and cheese and a wild mushroom ravioli. It was out first experience with alpaca and although tasty, it'll probably be our last. It was cooked nicely at medium rare, but I suspect that its a very lean meat and hence a bit on the chewy side. The accompanied sauce however was delicious. I can't remember what our server called it, but she said it was a local sauce. The ravioli was nice; cooked to al dente but the chicken was dry. All in all, a nice experience for two...
Read moreMy husband and I were the only guests on a Monday night, but our waitress was delightful and the food was truly fantastic. We loved the salad (one of the most flavorful ones we’ve ever had!), the hamburger, and the ravioli. The food was reasonably priced and the ambiance was delightful; the river rushing outside was wonderful. We would...
