Mezzanine Cafetería Restobar — Restaurant in Lima Metropolitan Area

I attended the place with my family and we tried the ‘menu’ which is the word they use to talk about dish or dishes a restaurant carries for customers. Those dishes are usually cheaper than other more elaborated ones. We ordered Arroz con Pollo, Papa a la Huancaína and Pollo a la Plancha with Brocoli, I also ordered Tequeños with Salchicha Huachana. The atmosphere of the place looks acceptable, small but comfy, the layout shows different levels or spots you can choose from, employees looked polite and welcoming. Even though our waiter mixed up my mom’s order, he did, overall an acceptable job. Drinks, were frutos rojos which was something I never heard of. It did not have enough flavor and the texture was too thin, I could not guess what frutos rojos really was. Arroz con Pollo was really low quality, rice was dry, not flavory and extremely salty, Papa a la Huancaina was lower than average in terms of flavor and texture, the look was acceptable though. Lettuce looked dry and not fresh. Pollo a la Plancha was decent, it was simple as expected , but well cooked, and the sauce on the brocoli was good. Tequeños a la Huancaina were also decent, although, the salchicha huachana was not too flavory or strong (which is an important aspect of salchicha huachauna). Something that was real disappointing was the SALSA CRIOLLA, unbelievably, it did not have The Peruvian Lime. Either it had water or different source of liquid (vinegar,maybe),but no lime at all. A hidden gem in Magdalena!! “A” for effort!!! The place has an enormous potential given the fact that they are in a re-emerging bohemian area of Magdalena district. (They just need to adjust the lights of the joint… It feels like you are in the emergency room) The Waiters are VERY attentive and the speed of service is excellent. Drinks are great (Fabricio made me a a killer PiscoSour). People who attend this place are also cool, BUT THEY SHOW UP REALLY LATE. . Llegué aquí porque mi mamá antes había consumido aquí con unas amigas, así que decidimos ir por el día de madre, y no me arrepentí. La atención fue muy buena, incluso desde que hice la reserva por WhatsApp, fueron muy amables al mostrarme mesas mediante fotos y vídeos, una vez llegado al local me recibieron con la misma cordialidad con la que atendieron mi reserva. A mi mamá le dieron un pisco sour de cortesía por su día, estuvo muy bueno, cortesías tan buenas como esas dan una muy buena primera impresión. De entradas nos decantamos por unas papas con chicken fingers, estos últimos brillaron por si mismos, lo único que faltó fueron más salsas (cantidad y variedad, solo nos dieron tártara, guacamole y rocoto). Para los platos de fondo pedimos un bisteck apanado con tallarines verdes, una pechuga a la plancha con chimichurri con arroz y puré, y un pollo saltado, todos fueron buenos, solo el puré y el arroz estuvieron bajos de sal, pero es un pequeño detalle, nada molestoso. Lo que sí me voló la cabeza fueron sus limonadas, tanto la árabe como la sureña fueron lo mejor que probé ese día (y en mucho tiempo, a decir verdad), volvería solo por esas bebidas y también para probar otros platos que tenían muy buena pinta.
