Inkari Apart Hotel has been a beautiful temporary base for time spent at the end of a South American travel leg that is ending in Lima.
The spa space on the top floor has rarely been booked during my time here, which means being able to reserve it more or less whenever worked with my schedule. Eucalyptus leaves, robes, & amazingly clean facilities all come together to make the choice of turco or sauna (steam or dry) an enhancement for any day. It's a wellness experience (almost a spiritual experience) that can be matched with the downstairs gym (one packed with all the equipment & machines you could want), & a relaxing sit on the balcony (there is one that wraps around the beach facing side of the 9th floor where the steam & sauna are located, so you can feel the ocean breeze even if your room does not have a balcony).
Meals are always a pleasure, & I can recommend the food served at the hotel just as much as anything I've enjoyed at restaurants in the surrounding area. There is a prix-fixe sort of menu that changes daily during lunchtime & a more standard breakfast during the week (coffee, juice, eggs, fresh bread, ham for those who partake, & queso Edan). I haven't tried the weekend only breakfast buffet yet, but I will this coming Saturday if I haven't left the country by then.
The recent offering of pineapples to breakfast - fresh from a family farm by way of Nicholas (Nicholas is one part of the team who keeps things running down at the restaurant along with Chef Karen) really emphasizes the benefit of staying at a place like Inkari. Despite having multiple locations, it does not feel like a chain. It is family owned. The staff is Peruvian (even those who may have originally come from somewhere else), & because of calling Lima home, they can offer things like some of the sweetest pineapples you've ever tasted, sourced straight from their own family farm.
It's beautiful. As beautiful as the natural light that shines into the apartment style rooms you'll call home when you stay here.
The Presidential Suite (there are four) comes complete with an en suite bathtub, full ocean view balcony, living room & dining space, along with two large screen smart TVs, a luxuriously comfortable bed, & a waterfall shower head. There is no smoking at all in the hotel, even on the balcony, but this pushes you outside to the sidewalk lounge space where you'll be greeted by Augusto (who has US hospitality industry experience & will likely be the first person to greet you with a bright smile when you check in) & be directed towards cushy sofas & ashtrays with a view of the neighborhood you'll likely want to explore.
Massiel, Yoci, & Danae are available for anything you might need at the desk - all with their own specialized expertise, all displaying a breezy confidence & skill for what they do to make Inkari standout among the hotels in Magdalena del Mar as well as other districts in the city.
A stay at Inkari is an authentic Lima experience. A way to support a Peruvian owned business while in Peru (because why wouldn't you), & to expose yourself to another (very metropolitan) space in a city marked with familiar comforts as well as one of a kind aspects that get you to remember that you're traveling, even (I imagine) if you are a...
Read moreWe only needed a base for 1 night, so chose this because we thought it was close enough to the airport for easy transport - it was less than 30mins travel but it also sounded from reviews like we could find restaurants/bars nearby... Plus points - the hotel car waited for over an hour as we were delayed with luggage problems, with no complaints from them. Minus points (not for hotel but maybe our research) - ended up walking for miles trying to find food & drink - it's difficult to believe there is so little nearby! Looking at the map and reading info I think all links were to the wrong Inkari hotel - eg on Booking.com it actually says private beach - not that we were interested in the beach, but it was a very steep cliff to a car park on the water, certainly not private and barely a beach! After walking for nearly 2 hours to end up back at start, we had to suffice with snacks from a nearby petrol station! We were not the only ones fooled - shared a taxi back to the airport with 2 people who had obviously read the same reviews as us. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, the receptionists were very helpful - just expect to call a taxi if you want to...
Read moreWe had a great stay at Inkari Apart Hotel in Lima and really enjoyed the breakfast. Nicholas, our server, was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. He brought us fresh scrambled eggs, along with coffee and juice, and ensured we had everything we needed. We don’t speak much Spanish, but he was patient and communicative, making an effort to understand us while also speaking a little English. His warm and attentive service made our morning even better.
We stayed in the King Suite, which was spacious with a very comfortable bed, good WiFi, and excellent air conditioning—perfect for a relaxing stay. The hotel also has a gym, which was a great bonus, though a couple of pieces of equipment could use some repairs.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful too and allowed us to store our baggage. They also helped get smaller change for a large note.
The location is also a highlight, being close to the sea and with a cute sushi restaurant just across the road. Overall, a...
