If you visit Peru, and miss visiting Nikko, you're crazy. We have traveled all over the world, and are always sure to try the best restaurants everywhere we go. Eating at Nikko was the single most satisfying and impressive food experiences we have ever had. Each dish was supreme. There was no drop off between plates. Everything was profoundly fresh. The seasoning, preparations, and textures were all 5 star. And the presentation was what you would expect from one of the best restaurants in the world. The location is outside of the super busy tourist areas, so it's a rare situation where you get to really focus on the artistry of the food experience, without being pushed in and out to make room for others. They have a full bar as well. Often I try to find some negative to list just so my review is fair and balanced, and credible. I would have to make something up in this case. I mean, even the staff and service is 5 star fine dining level perfection. Just go. Skip the commercial "Best in Lima" restaurants where the reputation is from 10 years ago, and now they have declined in portions and quality. Get in to this place before the American food critics start flying in to "discover it", and you'll have to wait...
Read moreMy sister, who lives in Lima, told me this restaurant was good—but honestly, it wasn’t. It’s overpriced for the quality of the food. Maybe we came too late at night, but if that’s the case, they should at least charge less. It’s wild that their Lomo Saltado, a classic Peruvian dish, costs 65 soles (around €16), and they served it with rice that tasted like it was made the day before. Definitely not fresh.
I was really looking forward to the “Carretillero de Entraña Fina ANGUS, trufado y flambeado”. It was 2 pieces for 38 soles (€9.50), but it arrived cold and completely tasteless. This was my last dinner in Lima, and it was truly disappointing. I would recommend you find another restaurant or choose something else. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish.
And for those wondering why I didn’t speak up— it was my last night with my family, and I didn’t want to bring any negative vibes into our...
