Since it’s a restaurant I’ll start with food, but there’s much more to be said. Had the best pique macho here and tried cuy for the first time. Both were great. Ric, the owner, tries his recipes himself over and over till the dish comes out as he imagined it.
Other than that I got there a couple of days after my phone got stolen in Bolivia. I asked Ric to call home using his WhatsApp. Without even knowing me, he did everything he could to help. Saying he went the extra mile doesn’t even begin with. He tried helping tracing back my phone, kept my backpack safe while I went looking for it, since I couldn’t find it he stayed up super late finding ways to buy a new one online (as it was cheaper and I didn’t have much time) and then hosted me for the night. Since I don’t have a Peruvian credit card I couldn’t buy the phone with my card. He offered to transfer the money to his bank account and buy it, which included all of the difficulties of receiving money from a foreign bank account. He bought the phone for me even after I left and made sure I got it. And, again, food was great. I see no reasons why paying a visit would not be a great idea. P.S. they don’t usually have desserts or sweets, but they went out of their way to give us the most delicious arroz con leche I’ve ever had 💚it felt like a warm, nostalgic hug from my childhood 🤲🏼
