The food, ambience, and services are at par (or even better) than mainstream Italian restaurants. The entire experience has exceeded expectations, and it has left us hoping to find similar places in Manila.
The dishes and drinks are made upon ordering; while it may take a bit of time to prepare the wait is very much worth it. The Frappes are excellent (we've had the Nutty Nutella and White Chocolate Cookies and Cream), the pizza is outstanding (brick oven baked; we had the Quattro Formaggi, and the flavors were very well-balanced), and pasta may be the best seafood pasta we've ever had (we had the Pasta Frutti Di Mare and Pasta Frutti Di Mare Nero - both were flavorful and generous in size). It was very obvious how fresh all ingredients were, especially the seafood used.
The condiments are excellent, too (parmesan cheese was provided on the side for each pasta dish, and freshly ground black pepper is offered with each dish). Spiced olive oil and hot sauce are available for the pizza.
The restaurant was dimly lit but just enough to create a comfortable, laid back atmosphere. There are many kinds of sitting arrangements possible - standard tables in the main dining area, dining tables in the garden area, low tables and elevated floor seating with throw pillows, and swings for bar seating. Just being in the restaurant is an experience in itself.
The staff are courteous and non-intrusive. As opposed to family restaurants, the staff will try to leave customers to their own privacy but will come right over when beckoned. Very professional and much appreciated given the intent to have a...
Read moreate here for our last lunch in Alaminos. i looved the ambience! it felt so nice to be surrounded by plants and shade during such a hot season. the menu options seemed promising, but unfortunately only the pizza hit the mark for me. risotto was undercooked, pasta was overcooked, and the appetizers like the gambas and fondue were a bit strange (ie the gambas was chopped up into little pieces, the fondue cheese was literally just cheese HAHA i thought it would be creamy!). considering the high price point i felt like the food wasn’t worth it. also, we were one of only two diners in the resto but our food took so long and the servers were a little inattentive. i think it’s worth trying once, or maybe would be nice to visit for casual drinks or brunch. but otherwise, a lot to improve on to give justice to...
Read moreThe cashier and waitress twice scammed me on my bill.
Initially, she wrote a 20% service fee, which I questioned since the menu only mentioned a 7% fee. She apologized and I accepted it.
However, she brought me a new bill with a 7% service fee in writing, but the total charge was still 20-30% higher than my original bill. I asked her about the discrepancy again, but she insisted it was another mistake.
I asked if I could speak to her boss to clarify the misunderstanding, but they refused to contact the boss. Now, I have no choice but to complain here.
I understand that waitresses in the Philippines often have low salaries and rely heavily on tips. However, it’s unacceptable for a restaurant to provide no service and then...
