Venue is so, so. Food is superb. Great value for money.

Venue has a stereotype hospital canteen ambience: antiseptic and totally devoid of any romantic airs. Airconditioning is not so good. Wash area and restroom are ordinary. Lighting is blase.

I asked the waitress for the house specialty. She said their bestseller was the bagnet kare-kare rice meal. So I got that one and also a churros ice cream dessert.

There was a bit of a wait time for the bagnet kare-kare. At Php 120, I was really surprised with the huge, pork chunks. Pork wasn't bagnet though. It's perfectly cooked lechon kawali. The pork skin crackled and crumbled in my mouth. It was so tender and crunchy at the same time. The peanut sauce was a little bit on the sweet side but the vegetables were perfectly cooked: crunchy fresh and well-cooked. The sauteed shrimp paste was also sweet. Rice was ordinary. Overall, Chef Distrito's bestseller was surprisingly delicious at a great price.

My ice cream dessert was ordinary. However, the churros where the one scoop of ice cream was served was superbly baked. Churros was still hot when I finished the ice cream.

I was really looking forward to the seafood paella but it wasn't on the menu. So I asked the waitress about Chef Distrito's Facebook advertisements like the lechon belly and paella.

These are all made to order and are NOT served in the restaurant. If you want to sample these first before you place an order, that's just not possible.

Chef Distrito deserves 4-stars for the skillful culinary concoctions and GREAT...

Chef Distrito offers a variety of single serves that are both tasty and budget-friendly. I've tried their kare-kare and I must say it really tastes good. I've also had the opportunity of tasting their binagoongan and spicy ribs, so far, they do not disappoint. The place is also cozy.
