My partner and I came here for dinner during our stay in Davao. We were looking for somewhere to eat high quality, tasty Japanese food. Akiko is an unassuming looking place from the outside but dont let that deter you. This place is incredible and I would recommend it highly.

As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by both staff and diners and escorted to a table. There is a large selection of food on offer. We ordered the Kakiage Udon (hot), okonomiyaki, vegetable tempura, sushi and drinks.

The food was indescribably delicious. We were both blown away. A kindly elderly gentleman also came over to recommend some spices to add to our meals, and was very welcoming and friendly. As we left, the staff and regulars gave a very kindly goodbye.

The food was very affordable, high quality and atmosphere welcoming....

I can't believe I have just tried this resto right now after all these years (I believe they have been serving since 2015 or before?)

No wonder its been operating for a long time and one of the OGs in Davao, food was amazing and the service crew and owner were very nice!

Will truly go back here. If you want an authentic Japanese restaurant with a cozy atmosphere despite the building being quite old already, then you must go here. Katsu curry was amazing as well with a lot of beef meat and the bento...

Akiko offers “rustic charm” with an olfactory twist—think eau de grandma’s aparador. The menu delivers decent flavors, but my dining experience came with an unexpected protein garnish: a cockroach that landed on my hair and elegantly crawled to my shoulder. Service? Unbothered. Payment options? Strictly cash—because who needs 2025 conveniences like cards or GCash, right? Nothing like a 1km ATM pilgrimage to complete the meal. Overall, memorable—but for all the...

You really feel like you’re in Japan with their aesthetic and overall vibe! Just pretend the crowd around you are tourists from Davao and it works. I’ll definitely try more of their meals when I get the chance to come back—the katsudon was great! It’s one of those rare spots that still feels cozy, whether it’s packed or peaceful. Introverts should definitely give this place a shot!

Chill place to dine. We had lunch yesterday! Food was great! I've tried several maki's from other Japanese restaurants but their Ebi Maki was the best for me (others has a sweet taste). Their best seller soup (Damn! I forgot the name) was totally amazing. Fresh veggies and beef was so tender.
