Taste of Home has been a longtime favorite of mine since childhood. This cozy spot has stood the test of time, thanks to a menu that’s simple yet heartfelt and consistently satisfying.
My go-to dish is their rosemary pork. The serving is generous, with ample, tender pieces of meat that remain flavorful and lightly crisp on the edges. The savory gravy pairs well with the meat, and the accompanying salad is fresh and adequately portioned.
On my most recent visit, I also tried their homemade lemonade. It was refreshing and a great complement to the meal. However, I noticed that the sweetness was a bit uneven. If not stirred thoroughly, it tended to be a little too sweet at the bottom.
To add, their apple pie is still the bomb as always. It's generously portioned, packed with filling, and just the right amount of sweet and tart.
As for the ambiance, Taste of Home remains a small and intimate place, which can fill up quickly during peak hours. While I appreciated the recent renovation of their front counter where drinks are prepared, the area near the sink is noticeably dated, with visible wear on the walls. A more complete update of the entire interior would definitely enhance the overall dining experience.
Still, Taste of Home remains a beloved go-to for many Davaoeños seeking familiar and comforting meals. With a few updates to the space, it has the potential to feel just as homey but even...
Read moreTaste of Home is one of those rare restaurants that truly left me in awe. From the moment I stepped in, it felt like a cozy escape — nothing fancy, but everything warm and welcoming. The space is small, so it fills up quickly, but it adds to the charm.
Now, let’s talk about the food. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the taste? Comforting and satisfying — like a warm hug on a plate. But the real star of the show is the apple pie. Hands down, the best I’ve ever had. Flaky crust, perfectly spiced apples, and just the right amount of sweetness. Nobody can beat it. Fight me!
I also tried their drinks — flavorful and refreshingly different, though a bit on the pricier side. Still, with the uniqueness and quality, you won’t feel shortchanged.
One thing to note: there’s no designated parking for the restaurant, and with the limited space around MTS and the number of people flocking here, it’s best to come a little earlier if you’re bringing a car.
All in all, Taste of Home truly lives up to its name. A must-try spot for anyone looking for hearty food, warm vibes, and a slice of...
Read moreThis place was suggested by my friend, apparently “Taste of Home” has been running since maybe earlier 2010. This was their Go-To place when she was still in her elementary days.
When we went there, their best sellers were not available, hence we chose a different main dishes. Other dishes were also good. Super recommended. We also tried their apple pie, which has superb taste. Tried the sweetener alone, it is really too sweet but it compliments the cheese. The base or the ‘pie’ is also crunchy and tasty which I also love to eat without the apple. The cinnamon wasnt overwhelming, and the apple itself was thinly sliced which is really good. One slice is good for two...
