We had dinner here last year and it was excellent so we decided to have dinner here again. I WISH WE HAVE GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE INSTEAD.
This is supposed to be a fine-dining restaurant but they have a couple of issues and we had a bad experience with them tonight (oh and it was really embarrassing too)
Eight ladies, different nationalities, celebrating the birthday of 3 of our friends.
It all started well, or so it seems. There were couple of red flags that we kept on ignoring.
The waitress kept on asking excuse me twice or more when pouring us water, then would push our chair with her knee most of the time to move us away from her way.
As a fine dining restaurant one would expect that she know which side to serve the food or to take the plate. Her body would cross over the table in a direction that suits her to serve food or take plates. If she could remove our head from her way, she could have done so.
My steak frites was chewy. DO NOT ORDER IF YOU GO THERE.
We ordered 4 lava cakes. Two were dry so we asked for it to be replaced. The manager came, took the cake and did not even manage to apologize for starter. To our disbelief, she said "but you already ate half of the cake". We did not eat half of it, we split as I shared it with another friend. The other lava cake on the other hand, was painstakingly eaten by another friend with a complain that its dry every time she puts it in her mouth. She was convincing herself it's good because that was the memory we had one year ago.
What was suprising is the manger's combative voice accusing us of eating the cake and returning it. What? We would lie about our cake, eat half of it and return it so we could have a new one again? Was she a manager in a diner that she had to struggle with this kind of argument all the time? Why would we struggle to waste our time arguing over a cake instead of having our quality time our friends?
FOR THE RECORD? I HAVE BEEN TO 37 COUNTRIES, THOUSANDS OF RESTAURANTS, TASTED A LOT OF LAVA CAKES SO I KNOW A DRY ONE IF I HAD ONE.
It took 40 minutes to settle the bill, they had difficulty computing taking the tax away of 3 diplomats and 2 PWD. Why can't they just divide the bill by 8, remove tax of 5 people and put it all back together? Why go over the trouble of dissecting who ate what? The manger explained everything with her high pitch tone arguing with one lady lawyer about the bill. IT IS SO EMBARASSING TO BE HONEST. We were not cheap and trying to be cheap. We went there first to celebrate a birthday and not to waste our time arguing about a cake, waiting for the bill and arguing again about the bill. To be honest, IT WAS MORE THAN AN HOUR WASTED WITH ALL OF THEIR NONSENSE.
ON TOP OF THAT THEIR TOILET STINKS SO BAD AS IF THEY DON'T CLEAN IT. I asked the waitress to at least spray something but i don't think they did.
ANOTHER FOR THE RECORD: MY FRIENDS AND I ARE WELL TRAVELED. HALF OF THE LADIES ARE DIPLOMATS. IT IS EMBARRASSING FOR ME TO HAVE THEM EXPERIENCE THIS ON A FINE DINING RESTAURANT WITH A MANAGER WHO CAN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE EVEN IF SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO MEAN IT.
This is the last time we are having dinner here. Go spend your money...
Read moreAn unplanned meal, we were early so were able to get a table for 3 around 5:15pm. First - epic bar with incredible Gin and Japanese whiskey collection. Ask about the special cocktail or martini.
Menu was extensive and erred on the California comfort food for me, but was actually equally influenced by NY and Parisian tastes. They basically took a great dish and add something special.
The mushroom soup was intense. Rather than cream, lots of pureed mushrooms, plus chopped mushrooms and beef cheeks.
I had the sea bass. It was cooked perfectly with moist flesh and crispy skin, served with corn (cut off the cob) perfectly cooked and crunchy green beans, a sweet corn puree, and the extra special garlic foam (which I now want on everything).
They had received fresh black truffles that day, so my husband had some on his chanterelle pasta dish. The waitstaff would walk by the truffles and open the glass cover to take in the beautiful aroma. I love waitstaff who love food.
A fantastic surprise was the dessert. I had lemon bars with lemon curd. Perfect lemon tart and sweet balance, but the crust on the bar was light, delicate and crispy in a way I've only had in Paris. Epic!
The chef said hello at the end of the meal, and was very enjoyable to talk to.
Absolute surprise, that we are so...
Read moreCan’t thank the M Dining team enough for making my private birthday dinner such a memorable experience. From the initial inquiry to the night of the event, everything was handled with care and precision. We had a beautiful course menu and the entire place to ourselves truly a premium experience.
Special thanks to Chef Tom Bascon for personally reaching out and guiding the menu planning from start to finish. Big appreciation as well to the staff and even the owner herself, who ensured every detail was arranged perfectly. Service was incredibly efficient, and every request was attended to without a hitch.
The food? Absolutely loved by all my guests. Highlights included the French Onion Soup, Vongole Pasta, Scallops in Saffron Cream, perfectly cooked Steak, and a beautiful dessert to end the night.
Definitely worth it would recommend M Dining for any intimate...
