It's my first time going to this place as suggested by a friend who resides in Silay but he forgot the name of the place. So we took a tricycle and need to go around to and fro since he can omly remember it's near the public cemetery. We found the place & no other customers. I was amazed upon seeing that most of the tables has a sign "Reserved". Then we need to ask which one is available. The lady just pointed the table in front of the bar. We were given a menu which is very artistic. It's my first time to see a menu painted in sheets of wooden bark and quiet heavy to carry, as if I don't want to turn to the next page. Also upon seeing the prices. Wow! super expensive! Am I in Starbucks or Seattle's Best? same price. Then their famous backdrop with 2 painted bicycles with flowers on the front basket. As I about to pose for my Instagramable picture to show off their place, the staff said hey you're not allowed to move the bicycles or rearrange it. I told them I just want to stand in between the 2 bicycles for a more captivating shot, but they insisted that I'm not allowed to do that. Then I just took a selfie just for the heck of it. Then my friend's phone was out of battery and his power bank is out too, so he asked the lady if he can plug his phone for a quick charge, but they said not allowed. So, we just sat down had a chat while sipping our coffee worth P150.00 each. My friend saw the wafer he ate on our way to Silay that it still has some remaining chips. So he took out the sachet and ate some chips but the lady saw him and warned him, Sir! we don't allow outside foods here! My friend was shocked, wow, I'm doing this in Starbucks all the time but never did I encountered such a warning. We sat and talked there around 30mins but no customers walked in. Well, it's my first time going there. Would you think I'll travel a long way to go back to that place?

I got to stop by Cafe Velo in Silay, which is conveniently located very close to the airport. I had a few hours to spare and didn't want to hang out at the not-so-great Bacolod airport, so I decided to hang out at the coffee shop to get some work done. When you walk in, you'll be greeted by the cute and cozy interiors that are totally Instagram-worthy. There's even a cool bike installation, a fake tree in the middle of the cafe, and some nice turquoise chairs. However, when I asked the staff if I could charge my laptop or phone before heading to the airport in 2 hours, I was told that there were no available sockets. I noticed that there were actually some unused sockets around the cafe, but the staff mentioned that they were under strict orders from the owners not to let anyone charge their gadgets. It turns out this isn't really a work-friendly cafe. Also, there's a 10% surcharge if you want to sit in the air-conditioned area. This was quite unusual and the first time I've encountered such an additional fee. The Spanish latte I had was just okay, but I ended up paying P165 due to the electricity charge, which I felt was a bit steep for the quality. The customers who came in after me also needed to charge their devices but received the same response. They only stayed for around 30 minutes before leaving. I personally think that businesses should allow customers a reasonable time to charge their gadgets. Let’s do better in customer service, please.

You can come here to update your Instagram or Facebook but not to eat or drink. The interior and decorations are fantastic. Unfortunately the food and availability does not even come close to matching. Visited on a Friday afternoon and my first choice for drink and food were sold out. The drinks we ordered were good but nothing extraordinary for the Manila prices the establishment commands. The matcha cheese cake pictured looks good to the eye but tasted stale and like it had been in the refrigerator for about a week. Too dry and flakey. Come for the ambiance, not the food.

Thinking of dining at Cafe Velo with kids? Think again!

would have marked negative stars but google doesnt allow it. You guys should put a huge sign at the door that says "KIDS NOT ALLOWED". My kid is not even THAT rowdy! My 5 year old daughter and her 4 year old younger cousin were dancing to your music but your waiter came over to disrupt so he can protect and reorganize the flowers on the bike displays. Not to mention your cashier pulling out the centerpiece on our table because the kids were playing with them and accidentally tore a small hole in the plastic placemat. Your place clearly prioritizes decor over your customers and the quality of your food. Thank you for the overpriced blueberry pancake that was dry as hell. Please dont freeze your pancakes and reheat them when ordered. Wont be coming back here! Good riddance, Cafe Velo. youd excel better as an interior designer and not a...
