Tamarind Restaurant — Restaurant in Puerto Galera

We ordered 2 main dishes but after 25 minutes only one of them arrived. Since this is not completely unusual in the Philippines we decided to wait for a while and after 10/15 minutes we tried to get the attention of the staff. The staff did not once looked our way which ended in my partner having to walk inside to ask about our other dish. At this moment we are already waiting for 45+ minutes. The staff acknowledged that they forgot our other dish and told us we could order drinks on the house.

We both ordered a cocktail and the waitress walked back inside. After 2 minutes she came back to tell us she could only serve one cocktail on the house and asked if we would still like the second cocktail. Till so far the hospitality, making this mistake was one thing, but then having the idea you can ask us to pay for the cocktail we ordered that would be on the house is something else.

We are aware that the server is not to blame in this case, but shame on management! This is not how you make up for your very own mistakes.

So we ended up paying for all of our food minus one cocktail. This while eating at least 40 minutes after each other...

In my opinion, the best spot for European/American style food in Sabang.

Probably the most attentive service. They have plenty of friendly staff who are waiting to serve, but not intrusive.

Their prices are reasonable for the quality of food and they do not have a huge markup on wine bottles.

All of the food was outstanding. The pizzas had great dough and were cooked very nicely. The steak I ordered was cooked almost perfectly, but could have used a little more pepper. Bruschetta was the only thing I wouldn't order again.

The only con is that there isn't air conditioning. The ambiance is still pretty nice and they do have fans on the ceilings if you sit "inside."

Overall, 5/5 would eat...

Just had a really nice dinner at dusk with ideal weather. We just showed up and luckily there was a table available. We ordered the house salad, tuna tartare and surf & turf. I also got a glass of the house Chardonnay which was quite good. Definitely recommend the steaks, we had it with the Parmesan fries and pepper sauce, so yummy! The house salad was nice and fresh, all the vegetables were at their peak. Tartare was fresh and the mangoes were a new twist for me.
