Steps Garden Resort — Hotel in Puerto Galera

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Steps Garden Resort on two separate occasions now and both times it has been a really great experience, I personally would recommend staying at Steps Garden Resort. Particularly, the resort staff are one of its greatest assets, from Raychell in reception to Jogie and Malou in the pool bar and restaurant, it's always service with a genuine smile, great chat and fun banter with their attention to detail being second to none and above what I have experienced elsewhere in Philippines. I also have to mention that the resort food is exceptional and prepared fresh to order so big shout out to the chef and kitchen staff. The resort gardens are beautifully maintained and the garden staff are very courteous and pleasant to chat with. Josie heads up a great houskeeping team and ensures the rooms are keep immaculately clean on a daily basis. Thinking about it, there is a good reason I come to know each of the staff by name and that is because they are all so pleasant and friendly and I will return again just for that alone. The owner of the hotel is such a nice gentleman and always has a smile and takes time for a chat. My main reason for staying in Puerto Galera was scuba diving and although I dived with Asia Divers, the hotel staff have other contacts and can recommend other local dive shops to meet your needs. As the name suggests, the resort is located a few hundred metres uohill from the promenade which means a few steps but this is very manageable and for me a positive. The hotels rooms are very well decorated and furnished as expected for any local resort hotel in Philippines and I have no complaints. I stayed in Room 20 which had fabulous views albeit a few more steps but again very manageable and worthwhile as it got a lovely breeze on the balcony. Don't miss the chance of staying in a great local hotel resort, stay at Steps Garden Resort, it will not disappoint. We had an amazing stay at Steps Garden Resort in Puerto Galera! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the top-notch amenities, spacious and clean rooms, and the affordable rates. The resort is beautiful and well-maintained, with a relaxing vibe that’s perfect for unwinding.

Their restaurant and bar serve delicious food and drinks—definitely a bonus when you just want to chill after a day of exploring. The room we stayed in was huge, well-kept, and very comfortable, especially for the price we paid.

What truly made our stay extra special was the incredible staff. Everywhere you go, they greet you with a warm smile and are always ready to help. Special shoutout to Maybelle and Camille at the front desk—they went above and beyond for us! When we almost got stranded due to a shipping delay, they not only kept us updated with the ship schedule but even helped us rebook our tickets. Their kindness and effort really made a difference.

The staff were extremely warm, very welcoming and have a great sense of service. The hotel was very accommodative for a late check out as we were diving in the morning. The breakfast was very nice! Had an amazing tasty Spanish tortilla. The pool and the lounges are a great environment to relax after a morning of diving.

I cannot give a 5 star rating as I was a bit disappointed that one of the afternoons, a ‘rude’ guest requested the staff to stop the chilled and soft music that was being played by the accommodation at the pool and decided to start playing his own music at a very loud volume. The staff allowed this behaviour as long as the guests were in the pool. This was quite unpleasant when I just wanted to relax by the pool.
